What I think I've always wanted an ORM in go to look like. Love the way that it declaratively defines schema and then enables client generation.

I'm not sure I understand this. Vitess performs synchronous replication to at least two nodes for all write IIUC. The point that I think you're making is that Vitess generally does that in a single region so, for a given write, yo

I mean, I hear you that people do that and it does allow you to avoid needing distributed transactions. When you're stuck with an underlying NoSQL database without transactions, this is the best thing you can do. This is the whole &quo

Cool, pgtrgm has come up a few times in recent weeks. It's tracked in the below issue. I'm interested in hacking on it as it seems like a big reward for not that much work. https://github.com/cockroachdb/cockr

A prerequisite of triggers are functions. Functions are a good chunk of work in themselves. I'd say we've built some more building blocks which might be useful but I don't think we're particularly close to starting to ta

I'm not sure that there's a simple answer here. One place where people often run in to trouble is that they deploy cockroach with a global topology and then are surprised when things are much, much slower than in postgres. I'

One concern I have about the shape of the generics proposal as it stands is that it makes it hard to use arrays of types inside of generic data structures. Block-based data structures are a staple of efficient programming. Having a generic

A primary advantage is horizontal scalability. If you need more capacity, just add more nodes. Additionally it offers better fault tolerance and zero-downtime online upgrades. For more advanced use cases it can be deployed in a geo-replicat
