This is gonna be a fiasco similar to when apple forced their own maps on everyone and subsequently had to backtrack with an apology. Apple maps is very good now but not when it released. They made the mistake of taking away an existing feat

I just drove NYC to CLT in a day. I encountered rest stops with Tesla chargers but not anything else. Great if you have a Tesla but would really suck otherwise. If you have a family, flying gets expensive real quick so you have to be able t

Current EVs are really expensive and pretty much a luxury product. There's reasonable fear about finding charging stations if you don't have a Tesla. The plug seems to be converging to Tesla now. Needs one more iteration in batt

I think the issue here is more about finding someone with security clearance (labor shortage) rather than the know how. I would assume a company like Raytheon has all their processes documented and can quickly spin up a new manufacturing li

Tesla's ground up platform approach without the added drag of legacy platforms enables enough margins to be able to provide discounts. It's VW's fault they couldn't figure out how to make EVs with the same cost structure

I've never understood this "flush door handle" trend. How many miles of EV range does that add ? Is it worth the reduced reliability?

It's good to have a range of options for employees and a new advantage for startups to utilize. In the next few years we will hopefully know how different approaches affect productivity and outcomes. I initially thought Google's w

Misleading title. Lazy reporting by Reuters. The H1B visa process through USCIS isn't changing. Currently you have to visit a US embassy and get your H1B "stamped" on your passport to re-enter the US. Otherwise you can't

Yeah Google Bard seems to make up stuff way more than chatgpt and gives just wrong code. I asked for numpy code to fit a polyline rejecting outliers and it just made up an argument "robust" for polyfit. Chatgpt on the other hand g

This is a big deal. There are many niche industries (ex. Tire manufacturing) absolutely choked by non-compete agreements which force engineers to completely exit their field just to be able to advance their salary or career. This also was a

I think static compilation like C++ or rust is important to overcome the two language problem. That will be the biggest advantage over Julia. Unclear if Mojo can do this or if it is planned.

Can this produce a static AOT compiled binary ? This seems to be currently one of the biggest limitations to Julia (and even Python) in terms of distribution, especially in the embedded space. PackageCompiler.jl helps, but binaries are stil
