Right, but you seem to be talking about input -- the question was about output. I did get my answer, though -- output matters because it might be a different medium than input. So even if you sanitize HTML input, malicious VBA code could ma

Ok, this is the comment that best explained it to me -- you want to sanitize (escaped, etc, whatever) output because, even if you sanitize all HTML/CSS/JS on input, they might have inserted malicious Excel scripts or PDF exploits,

Can you clarify? What exactly do you mean by escaping output, and how can forgetting that cause a security issue?

I'm certain there are lots of defensive security positions available. The government has lots of departments that work to strengthen at least their own security, not just surveillance/attack organizations.

For a couple of years my debit card was paywave. When it worked it was excellent, though it seemed to fail about 20% of the time (I'd end up swiping). Then my bank removed it on their newer cards. I was sad.

I live in a small-ish, suburb/rural large town in central PA. I have gone to McDonald's a couple of times in the late morning, and every time it's completely full of people over 75 socializing (including half the staff).

This whole thread is odd to me. My understanding of libertarian philosophy is that welfare in any form (BI or not) is not within the state's jurisdiction. Where does that view go on the right/left spectrum?

This is a good explanation of things, but scapegoating "fiscal conservatives" for reducing budgets seems disingenuous, and deflects blame from those responsible (IE, the police, DAs, judges, and legislators who allow this travesty

Living in a rural area isn't a lifestyle choice when the cities are so far apart. If the cities were every 40-60 miles, it might be. I live 2 hours from the nearest city that has any significant public transport (central Pennsylvania).

Is that review lopsidedness on purpose? IE, do devs go in and choose to do an arbitrary set of reviews when they feel like it? or are they assigned? The one code-review-heavy team I worked on did a modified round-robin style. The team wiki

I worked on a team that had a list of "breakfastable offences" -- violating these rules meant you had to bring in breakfast for the whole team (donuts, bagels, whatever). One of them was "throwing someone under the bus."
