Are you sure that the agencies you speak of are not able to do this anyway? Even the Hong Kong Post Office has a place among the trusted CA's supplied by most vendors: not really necessary for everyone on the planet, I'd think. If

Gravatar is too ubiquitous for me now that Wordpress owns it. Plus the Wordpress account requirement is really annoying. So I hope your project will become an alternative on many sites, OP!

Here I would suggest that we use a thrusters to fix (yes, fix) Earth's rotational speed. Heck, let's slow it down when we're at it, I could use more hours in a day!

Hey, I didn't say you should stop typing in QWERTY! Wink. My point is that people who want to learn it won't replace their QWERTY skills -- They'll just learn another one. A brand new superpower.

Heh, yeah, that's a silly argument. But in that case I'm very glad for him that linux doesn't have a command called "hypolimnion"! Just type it in to see what I mean. (Heh. I just realised that I never even bothered

Ah, gotcha. Ok, in that case, I'll admit - when I was busy learning it, I felt hopeless quite often! It was not until I got visuals in my mind (see my post on that, linked in my previous comment) that my curiosity was piqued. Being laz

Ha - Coolermaster brought out a CM Storm with Cherry MX Green keys. They're like blue, but the springs are thicker, requiring more force. I found it on Amazon. I'm crazy about that keyboard, love it very much. Usually I switch bet

You don't forget the old layout when you learn a new one. This has been widely misunderstood. In fact, it's more like learning yourself to write with your other hand. Say, you try this with your left hand -- you don't forget

Have you ever tried an alternative layout, like Dvorak? I wrote about Dvorak a while ago on HN: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8705543 Calling it hopeless, well, our opinions differ, that's for sure!

The ntpd daemon does not run as root. So, how is it able to change the time of the system? Does it use setuid, or caps, or something else? I wonder because this would also affect what arbitrary code could be run as the ntp user.

This goes directly to the PDF. It seems to be a useful research paper for people who want to get academic insights into setuid. For those who would like to read the first part of the introduction, here it is: "Access control in Unix sy

As someone who has used the Dvorak layout for over 15 years, and loves it, it's my impression that the biggest reason people don't learn it, is because they don't know what they are missing. But dvorak is so much nicer, it wa

Thank you for making my point. English is not my first language, but this is exactly what I meant, and your examples are spot on, too. One other thing that is annoying is networking. IPv6 is once again being ignored, and for the rest they o

But you are not addressing what I am saying at all. I am saying that this is convenient for developers, but for us sysadmins, who have to implement Docker apps in already existent systems, it is just not all that convenient, so now we have

Docker is written by developers of which there are too many. But it sucks to many of us who are sysadmins. Docker's networking isn't all that, and the storage is basically just nifty because of already-existent tech like AFS and B

In general, it seems to me like the developers are way more excited about everything Docker than sysadmins, who actually have to implement these components into already existent systems!
