Can we get binary releases? There's some places I'd like to use this where I don't want to install go just to install the bin, but would prefer to just `curl` a binary. I didn't see any GitHub releases.

Is it? We are reaching a point where one particular political alignment is basically interested in setting us back pre-1950's in terms of rights and liberties. Hard to remain respectful of anyone who subscribes to that.

Once again scientists miss the entire point. It is about marketing and making people interested. It makes it easier when you go back five years later and ask for more money if people can see the multi-million dollar toy they paid for.

Its called “making an example”. The Cuban people mostly suffer for their government’s alignment with the Soviets and deciding to put Nukes 90 miles from Miami. We dont care that they are communists. We deal with all kinds of fucked up regim

Most people are familiar with time and random UUIDs but and I had sort of known about v5 UUIDs but recently used them to get consistent identifiers from an input value… super useful because you can do `uuidv5($namespace_uuid, data)` and get

Seems like most Americans like it this way. You say unhealthy but that is what the market overwhelmingly wants.

Monowheels are really cool and totally impractical. If I had the space to store one, I'd probably buy one for shits and giggles.

Sure, but that becomes a requirement at that particular design junction. A lot of stuff is built with HA that isn't even close to that complex.

It's mostly because there is a demand for HA which requires multiple replicas. The moment you start going down that route you increase complexity. Whether most things actually require HA is debatable, but a lot of businesses make it a

What happens if you have some data that absolutely _must_ change or be deleted? For example, a record gets committed with something sensitive by mistake.

Wonder how much of this is caused by engineers rushing to fix log4j issues at AWS so they can enjoy the holidays? Their stack is heavily Java-based isnt it?

Disclaimer: I _still_ like systemd. My only real big pet peeve with Systemd is the documentation is somewhat lacking..., like it's all there in the manual, but its laid out poorly and makes it hard to understand. The interaction betwee

While I agree, Id also argue virtually every posters opinion on HN about design of the Windows CP is useless. Most of us are power users and it we are not power users we are incredibly opinionated about some UX stuff.

Interesting logistics problem, I wonder how good Amazon is about re-routing deliveries from other warehouses if a local one goes down? This is bad time of the year to be losing a distribution center.

Not AWS, but Azure: highly doubt. At least at Azure the moment you declare an outage there is a incident manager to handle customer communication. Bullshit someone at Amazon doesn’t have time to update the status.
