Comparing somebody (or an important part of their personality) with excrements in a public forum is not "grumpily ignoring". I am all for civility, but this is not it.

These exist using projectors instead of OLED-Panels. You cannot do all 6 sides because of issues with heat though. They are called CAVEs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cave_automatic_virtual_environ...

I concur on the magical thinking. Calls for a new Carnap are a bit excessive though. The position displayed in the article is fringe. It does not in any way represent the academic mainstream.

Great to see a vim tutorial that has buffers as one of the very first topics! In many vim tutorials you wade through hours of moving/editing ("This is how you delete a word.", "This is how you delete two words", ...

Indeed the article does not mention anything about the donors being chosen with HIV resistance in mind. So there is a good chance of this being a welcome side effect to the cancer treatment but not intentional.

If someone at 1password loves this park and wants to keep it going, that is indeed great and it deserves respect and should be emulated. But it could have been done without renaming the park. Renaming the park is undoubtedly marketing.

This is like Jupyter notebooks for clojure with UI elements. Certainly helpful for small applications. Jupyter seems to have community support for other languages though[1] including clojure, so it would be nice to see how that compares. [1

I think this metaphor is a bit misleading. If you wanted to contrast work at different levels like the author does, the metaphor would be "cake mix baking" vs. "producing cake mixes". The metaphor above contrasts two dif

I‘m sure some people are drinking along with James the Butler (quite a feat) but that is not widespread. It is on TV each year but I would be surprised if many people aren‘t watching via YouTube.

I expect this to have an easier story combining 3D and 2D elements than threejs, in which you are basically left alone placing html or svg elements over your canvas and synchronizing them to your 3D state (which is ok as well, you can get 2

The readme describes some options you have for combining 2D and 3D.[1] It seems you can either have 3D and 2D on top each other (without transformations applying to both) or include a 3D sprite in 2D. I guess that means 2D and 3D are genera

That does not seem like a fair assessment. The OP said „it is worth keeping in mind“ not „ignore the article“. I think it is worth keeping in mind. The article still stands and the questions it raises against the current state of the author

Learning languages did not ruin the author’s life. The attention-grabbing title thinly disguises a heartfelt speech for learning languages, especially praising the empathy gained by becoming "one of the speakers tribe".
