How does it protect them? as far as I can tell they do absolutely nothing. If someone is misbehaving at a conference or online, you're already free to kick them out without a clause like this in your code of conduct.

That's a good point, and also, what a horrendous thing to have in your contract. I wonder if it's even legal for them to claim ownership of unrelated code done outside work hours.

I had the same thought, most of the argument here seems to be about screen space. I think at some point we're all attracted to the idea of having a bunch of monitors so you can feel like some kind of multi-tasking movie hacker, but the

I love that the comments are perfectly split between real analysis and buzzword mockery. As an outsider to this whole movement, data lakes have always seemed like a FOMO product. Like they've heard about big data, but they don't h

I appreciate this attitude. Minimalism feels a core value in Go. Bowing to the whims of every blogger would ruin that.

Personally I think Go code is incredibly clean, even with the error handling. It's just little if err != Nil statements that you essentially speed-read. And is knowing what errors are possible in your code not an important part of read

Sure, that would be great if everyone suddenly ate less meat, but until we have a global cultural shift, aren't solutions like this much more valuable? One time a project manager asked told the developers that they shouldn't intro

I don't know if it's just nostalgia talking, but I feel like a decade ago Facebook really was good at connecting people. I enjoyed it, because most of the content was real people you knew having conversations, or sharing pictures

The movie that comes to mind for me is Napoleon Dynamite. My first impression was that it was just aimless slapstick, but really it's about a group of misfits becoming friends. The events that lead there sometimes pay off and are somet
