goaccess is also quite nice. It just reads the web server log for nginx or Apache and gives you a nice dashboard from that.

Here's the updated time-lapse from today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcirrCpX6KM We also pushed out a new version of the web client.

Calming down now. I think we peaked at around ~95 concurrent a few hours ago. Very nice to see! I also learned that I very much overprovisioned thst Hetzner system I’m running the thing on. The server is basically idle, and the server softw

Yeah, it seemed to break on mobile Safari after I moved to a 1024x1024 canvas. Not sure how to go about fixing that :(

69 concurrent. Nice. Looks like the web proxy, nginx, is using more CPU than the actual websocket server software. That's good, right?

It gives you more tiles, and after a few level increments, that limit pretty much goes away, and then you're only bound by the server rate limiter. It's mostly there to prevent newly generated bot accounts from placing too much ju

~50 concurrent users already! Thank you all for checking this out. The old Swift backend gave out at around ~20 concurrent. This new one is barely even registering on htop at the moment. :^)

Stuck loading? What kind of browser are you using? I should have mentioned that this is optimised for desktop browsers only at the moment.

I'm fairly certain there are many existing ones that are better in many ways, but this one was made by my friends and I, and it was fun to build!

Someone drew that by hand one pixel at a time, believe it or not! :^)

> If this whole fiasco does result in WWIII, it'll be because of Finland joining NATO. No. It will have been because fascist Russia invaded Ukraine.

I think pfsense on a beefy enough system should be quite suitable for that kind of thing. Also, congrats!

So any thoughts on this company, Repography? Their dashboards look really cool, but the only way to give them a go with my own repositories is to authorize their Github app to "Act on my behalf", whatever that means, or to curl so

The backend is written in Swift with the Vapor framework. The code is massively outdated, and it starts spewing errors when more than ~20 people are drawing at once. The canvas load is the first component to give, sadly, so most people are

Yeah the websocket server is having an absolute meltdown. It was written in a rush in 2017!

Whole thing was built in the span of a few days (including all-nighters leading up to the deadline) I built the backend, my friends built the frontend. I seem to recall it took them a bit of researching to find a fast way to do it. The code

I'm expecting scripted art to appear before the day is over. A friend wrote a script that parses the debug log of the backend server and generates a timelapse: https://github.com/zouppen/pikselipeli-parser

If anyone here happens to like both C (C99) and raytracing, I've been working on c-ray[1] for a while now. It's your average pathtracer, but has some nice features such as clustered network rendering, a really fast BVH and an up-a

I should add that basic rate limiting is in place. Your tile count increases faster as you level up, and increments even when you're logged out!

A chinese USB-C to Ethernet adapter had instructions to download and install a macOS kernel extension for it to work. Thanks but no thanks. This was a product that was (presumably) vetted and retailed by an EU electronics retailer.

macOS from 2008-2021, Linux going forward. I just got frustrated with the sorry state of modern macOS, and managed to finally make the switch without too much pain.
