I love electron and I've never built one and don't have any immediate plans to do so. I'm a Linux user and because of how easy electron has made cross platform, I am enjoying far more applications that support Linux because b

The Return of the Shadow MUD has been around since the 90s. Not only is the player base still active, the game is still actively being developed! Just in the last year the maintainers have added new skills, specializations, quests, and soon

Types on collections got much less onerous once I realized that they could be partially elided. let another: Vec<u64> = some_vec.iter().map(|x|x + 5).collect(); Typically the `u64` part can be inferred based on the `map` func

This is a gap I would like to be filled by an IDE. Specifically, I'd like the inference that tells me the correct type in a compile error to auto-complete a function declaration for me. It would make the experience of pulling code into

Just wanted to say "hi" and that this is a great read! If you are interested, there is a Neon slack where some of us hang out. For example, you might be interested in neon-serde which could clean-up some of the argument parsing an

Thanks to Rust's great C interoperability, hybrid can be a great approach. I've really been enjoying re-writing sections of node.js applications in Rust. It fits fairly seamlessly and can really broaden the scope of what is possib

This isn't terribly accurate. For example, Lord of the Rings is marked rotten because Weinstein got an executive producer film credit. But, he wasn't involved in the film at all. In fact, he was one of the contributing factors of

Yes, this is correct, but, it's also exactly what you want in microservices. You are free to make forward compatible API changes without a deployment dance. E.g., you can add a field in the service and the caller won't see it unti

Good tip, but while it works in this specific case, it isn't generally equivalent. "for of" works on anything that is iterable. This will only work on array-like objects.

I still like auto-increment IDs. They are small and give you a monotonically increasing value for optimistic locking. If you need multi-DC uniqueness. I prefer to add a 2nd DC column. The combination of the two is unique across DC. If you n

I am right there with you! My favorite part of the books. Although, I can understand why it was cut. It doesn't work in the context of a movie to have an epic world encompassing battle followed by a minor skirmish. I feel like this sto

My understanding is that LOTR is a mythology and not allegory. Any reading of allegory is in the interpretation of the reader and not the intent of the author. https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/411971-i-cordially-dislike

Melondyne is great with this. Complete lack of vibrato is usually an obvious sign. I think auto-tuners get a bad rap. As an amateur musician, subtle corrections in post-production can save me days of recording to get the right take.

If the author of this blog is here, there is a nice padding around the content at most breakpoints, but not at 1200px. It makes it very difficult to read.
