We are 100% Indian product company - the product is Indian and built for the Indian market (although we have customers in 80 countries). I would classify us as a "very good company" and we use python for our scripting needs though our major

Maybe this would help? Section 19.3 The line terminator for message-header fields is the sequence CRLF. However, we recommend that applications, when parsing such headers, recognize a single LF as a line terminator and ignore the leading C

To be honest, who mugs people for their data!?! "Your bytes or your life!" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

It's stories like this that sometimes make me wish I had moved to the US. The American Dream is truly a wonderful concept.

I find Scheme + C to be the most satisfying combination. I love the abstractions that Scheme provides and good C bindings means I don't have to worry about what libraries may or may not be available.

I started on TAOCP (vol 1) many years ago but gave it up halfway through because it was too complex. I didn't remember anything humourous in it but because of your comment, I went back to check. I had a good chuckle at the index flowchart -

I do. I actually use (lynx+vim) for most browsing, and Opera (which has good keyboard bindings) when I want to post something (like now). It's not that I have anything against the mouse but I enjoy the workflow and it works very well for me

Verbose and not worth the read IMHO. The best tip in this entire document was changing a sentence to title case. >Select the text you want to convert, hit :, then enter the regex: s/\<\(\w\)\(\w*\)\>/\u\1\L\2/g. And, e

I think you're missing the point. I'm not denying that EMacs is great at what it does (I use it extensively). However, if I had RSI problems I would switch to something else - it's definitely worth learning a new tool if it helps my healt

Ok - I know I may be downmodded for this but wouldn't it just make more sense to switch to an editor that maybe doesn't cause you RSI problems? All I'm saying is that if you have to go through so much pain and trouble to use a piece of

Excellent advice Mahmud. Also I'd guess Zaid is an expatriate - simply because I've noticed this tendency to put down India mostly among ex-pats (in the US and UK). I'm a native and I love India. I've had chai at a dozen houses and shops an

Um...function calls do have an overhead. Yes it is negligible in most cases but it certainly made a difference when C was invented. In fact, C++ still carries the "inline" declaration around to avoid function call overhead. The compiler c

I will try to explain. Firstly it is a focus on "results" rather than output. The novice has produced a lot of output but no results. How would you evaluate if the components serve their purpose? Are they doing too much? Are they not doing
