I've been using David Allen's "Getting Things Done" methodology for about three years now and I find it works really well. When dealing with mail the principle I follow is to use the inbox purely as an inbox and not a substitute "to-do" lis

Great! I love Opera, use it exclusively, and I wish it got a bigger market share. Some things to love about Opera: * Superb keyboard support including reaching any link on the page quickly * Dragonfly * Home/Office Sync * Disable

There is actually a very simple solution that a bank could use to mitigate this issue - just send a SMS everytime there is an ATM withdrawal. I believe the bank I've just moved to ( http://www.kotak.com/ ) does do this. It sends me an SMS f

Understanding this level of communication becomes simpler if you understand the dynamics at play in office relationships. Listen to gossip, try to understand the way your boss feels about his boss. About his peers. About his portfolio. And

IMHO as a learning language nothing beats LISP. It's a little tricky in the beginning, but the pay-off is great simply in the way it changes your perception of programming. This is a great place to start: http://gigamonkeys.com/book/

It makes me sad to realize I read the OP and thought "Isn't this normal?" Then I read all your comments and realized just how different the US is from India and how far we still have to go. Sigh

Ok - I program in a software product company. Our business depends on getting out the best solution - not the fastest solution. It's definitely not a "hobby". Some businesses may requires "fast" solutions, but I would argue that most busine

Ok - this is a cute post but I'm going to play devil's advocate. So what if it is faster to do X? I program because I like to. I find it much better than trawling through the net, evaluating a half-dozen alternatives and then cursing as I t

Doesn't the OP sort of invalidate this? Any government should find it reasonably easy to install this kind of a keylogger on your computer. It would be quite easy to get a few minutes alone with your laptop.

This is utterly fascinating. I use TrueCrypt and never dreamt that such a simple attack even existed. Sigh - privacy in the age of information seems to be an impossible dream.

How in the world did you get that from the article? I'm really chuffed about these kind of "hacks". There are a lot of initiatives in India to try and improve the lives of the rural community and it is really great. India cannot progress by

1) Where is the legal stuff that says what happens to embarrassing photos of grandma? 2) Asking users to select their own url may have some issues. What happens if two people go on a vacation to Hawaii? :-) 3) I would really like to passwor

Very nice interface. I tried it out and had the following problems: 1) In 17 words, "arboretum" and "impetus" came up twice. 17 words is way too soon to start repeating. 2) The words appear to be of uniform difficulty. They aren't very hard

There is some code in this link: http://www.runrev.com/developers/tutorials/intermediate-hang... It seems to be a relatively verbose language so it's really not for me. The GUI builder may be a big plus though.

Was the code commented in enough detail? At work, we comment heavily and tend to use short variable names (especially local variables) so I'd like to know of outside experiences with similar code.
