I have wrapped my head around it. I think it's confusing to the reader and creates awkward semantics.

I do like the lack of extension functions. I find them confusing, especially when you can use them on things that are null.

I think they’re talking about powershells programming syntax which is much more sane than any Unix shell. There’s way less footguns and everything is typed. You’re not dealing with raw strings for everything. If you don’t like the Verb-Noun

I really enjoy embedding things in the vm. I run a discord bot with a few thousand users with embedded H2. Recently I’ve been looking at trying to embed keycloak (or something similar) for some other apps.

There is absolutely no chance I could show the enterprise spaghetti I work with to a domain expert and they would understand any of it.

I honestly doubt a business person would be able to read Clojure. I’ve been programming for 15 years and it doesn’t make any sense to me.

I wish someone would have used keycloak at my place. They decided to write it all by hand instead.

I’m not misunderstanding. You weren’t making a point about _verbosity_ originally. You were talking about distinguishing errors you care about; which is perfectly possible, you don’t use the construct that says “I don’t care what error it i

You don't coerce it. You don't care in that situation. That's the whole point. You're saying you don't care and are going to use null. If you care, you don't use try! you do the more verbose catching: let

I never said Windows should be the default. I implore you to please actually reread what I said and the article. Having to call into ffi to work with files on a major operating system is not normal. It is valid to criticize these decisions

Sorry for the ambiguity. I have also had to write Scala in application code for those projects, but that's because the framework we used, Play, is written in Scala and it's Scala core leaks in many places where the Java compiler c
