Using var there doesn’t leak any implementation details into any contracts. Var is for local variables inside of functions. There are no details or contracts there.

The new features make the code easier to read. For example var: List<Account> accounts = List.of(new Account(1), new Account(2)); var accounts = List.of(new Account(1), new Account(2)); It just reduces visual noise and bo

Why would sealed classes be bad design? It helps the compiler and you ensure that you have correct code and have handled all cases.

They also failed because Java never made them easy to work with. If you faced a checked error that you couldn't handle it is impractical to uncheck them. You have to write a shit ton of boilerplate. A a; try { a = som

I think C# has been able to compile the vm + your DLL into a single binary that doesn’t extract for a while now. There’s currently ongoing work for Java to do this.

Ok I mispoke on Arc because I was being hasty; but you're still being pedantic. Concurrency still requires locks. Wait/lock free algorithms can't cover the entirety of concurrency. Rust ships with plenty of locks in std::sync

That has nothing to do with Java. The Android runtime is NOT Java/OpenJdk.

It’s subjective, but this is also why I haven’t tried Nim or Crystal. If you like brackets, I’d say try Swift if you want to stay in the natively compiled + GC space.

You can write safe and performative code with a garbage collector. They're not mutually exclusive. It just depends on your latency and throughput requirements.
