I had similar issues. But I find that the simplest way to get around them is to use VMWare or Parallels, depending on what your emacs is running on. Run Lisp inside the OS of your choice and connect to it using Slime. If you don't use Slime

I think continuations is an advantage if you don't use ajax. When you use Ajax, continuations in a web framework aren't needed. This has been my experience with the last two web applications I've written using CL and UCW.

The only way most companies can measure people is by the amount of time that they put in. So if one is not at the office it can be very hard for the manager to work out how much people are worth. This is because most managers can't work out

I'd also add beans and some seeds which can be used as grains (assuming you are going veg). Amaranth, Quinoa and spelt. Have more protein than most meats. The sugar than you talk about is good for you. The problem is with refined sugar, wh

Steamed white rice takes 15 minutes to cook on the hob. Here is how I cook it, its simple and never fails. You will need a pan (preferably heavy bottomed) with a lid (as we are going to steam the rice for the last 10 minutes). Palm full of

This applies more to lisp than perl. More likely to be unemployed if you only know lisp. Not many companies use lisp. A lot of them use perl (though this is changing to ruby and python).
