I know I am not supposed to, but I laughed at this one :p One of my former colleagues used to put weird error messages (made up words mostly, but really funny to pronounce). One of these messages escaped QA and went to a customer - but this

The most important takeaway from the article is this I stopped equating dislike for big shitty companies with dislike for their foot soldiers. I wish more people felt the same. Developers have more job options in general than people in ot

Safely or not, what is the reasoning behind releasing this data to the public at all? What can we build with this data that is useful without violating anyone's privacy?

It doesn't make much sense in today's world, both practically and theoretically. We share more today than ever (food, music, culture, products, software, ideas and so on). There is no way a country can survive on it's own - p

I still can't wrap my head around renting dresses - some kind of specialized costume I can understand (like spiderman or predator), but dress? They seem to be doing some revenue so it does look like a workable idea. What happens to R

Pinterest crowd, the sort of people who read Cosmopolitan, watch reality shows That crowd is way bigger than the crowd that hangs out at places like HN. So it would make sense for G+ to go after them, no? This is a numbers game.

I am also in the same boat. One thing that worked for me (unintentionally) is volunteering - I met some great people, even formed a handful of friendships. Another interesting habit (again unintentionally) that worked for me is talking to o

I guess non-profits that work with homeless people, at risk youth, domestic abuse victims, war zones etc will find creative uses for this. Another example would be Syrian refugees arriving in Europe.

Same with kids too. Men are already scared to enter professions like teaching, hesitant to help when they find a kid lost in a shopping mall etc. Some airlines have a "policy" of not allowing single men to sit next to kids in thei
