I don't think we're in disagreement, I just think we're focusing on different things. In any case, I think we've beat this one to death. :)

No that was a waste ^_^ One of the things that was becoming a big thing when I left my last big company employer, was non-standard backgrounds. When you're looking for diversity a product manager or developer that has had a previous jo

This completely misses the point of the GP (or is that GGP) though. It's not a debate whether NK could survive, it couldn't, but Seoul is indefensible. Everything I've read suggests the Seoul is a casualty of any conflict. Re

This definitely goes in the TIL pile. I'm fairly well traveled E.g. I've visited most of the Balkans, Sarajevo, Mostar, but I had not heard of Transnistria. Also ++ for the use of jingoistic. :)

This doesn't make sense. Seoul is at risk because it is very close to the border where-as Pyongyang is much further from their mutual border. There are, of course, other considerations, but Seoul would be very difficult to defend from

IMO Give this developer a ticket to the next ycombinator batch. Don't know how likely that is given the current US stance on immigration, but he clearly has the initiative, even if his app is not welcome.

Yep, I felt that as well. Talking about database and migrations without talking about how you talk to the database itself. Sibling post answers the question, so I'm glad you asked.

Not sure about OP, but if you're looking to run a EU SaaS company for B2C or B2B, then I can highly recommend Xolo( https://xolo.io ). They handle all the heavy lifting from a tax perspective. They help you get your company s

It's good that they are making these changes, but they're only making them to save face, rather than proactively. Also (nitpick) it's 'over the next year' not 'later this year' given how late we are in the

Ah, but I'm not from the US. The US intelligence is just an example anyway. You could insert any relatively competent and well resourced nation state.

The problem with this kind of "we don't do it" disclaimer, is that they send the information in a way that can be intercepted (OCSP is over HTTP). Even if the information from those requests is only a partial picture, you can

Indeed. I'm not a big fan of militant vegetarianism/veganism. I think it creates a barrier to entry. It's one of the reasons that a lot of products now describe themselves as 'plant-based' rather than vegan. As some

Both great terms. I think I will borrow them for my own use. I definitely struggle most with the cheeses. I've never really been a big milk drinker, and growing up (both parents are vegetarian) I disliked eggs, so almost never ate them

Yep, agreed. The problem, minor though it is, is that there are a bunch of people that should refer to themselves as Pescatarian, but don't. I suspect that they refer to themselves as vegetarians because it's simpler and encapsula

Sure, this is one solution. But I suspect the 'culprits' use vegetarian because pescatarian isn't a well known term and invites more questions than it answers. Vegetarian sums up a large chunk of their preferences, even if it

I like the term part-time vegetarian. As a full-time vegetarian and part-time vegan, it has always been difficult to correct the confusion caused by people that say they're vegetarian and then eat fish or something similar. 'Part-

I used to keep a lot of movies on a HD, most that I'd ripped myself from legally acquired DVDs. At a certain point I decided to write a list of those movies, shove it in a document on Dropbox and delete the files, freeing up about 2TB.
