Honestly, I can't represent it well. Let's just say that we are all good human beings committed to making things better for all of us. Very politically active individuals with deep government experience and connections.

You joke, but that definitely has crossed my mind. I've been avoiding the recent protests out of an abundance of caution. But I'm prepared [1] for my first day as a citizen tomorrow. [1]: medium.com/@BerndVerst/preparing

The details matter here: If you are a H-1B dependent employer ( 8 H-1B workers if the company is < 26 total employees, 13 if 26-50, and 15% of workforce if 50+) then: You can either (1) prove that no US citizen is being displaced and no

I'm a big fan of her bill for the above (market-based) approach and other reasons: - F-1 student visa becomes dual-intent. This is huge! Essentially an employer could now sponsor permanent residency directly out of a PhD program (or ev

You currently cannot file for an adjustment of status to legal permanent resident while on a F-1 visa. This also includes employment-based Greencard. Currently you would need to obtain a H-1B before you could apply for employment-based perm

Congrats Matt. It was a pleasure to meet you at the USDS ice cream social last fall. Today was my last day at 18F. I'm returning to private sector, for now. I'm proud of what we accomplished in building cloud.gov. I think 2017 wil

I'm German and (as stereotypes would have it) extremely privacy conscious. Having lived in the US for over a decade I've reluctantly come to terms with the lesser privacy standards here. For a long time I refused to keep a lot of

I'd like to think that my government team is trying to approach this the right way. I work on a small team of about 12 within 18F (part of the General Services Administration). We are creating cloud.gov, a Platform as a Service (think

[Edit] Disclaimer: I haven't used App Engine in a while now. I don't recall whether Ingress specifically ran into anti-patterns (or we advised them early enough to avoid them). As I left Google in 2013 I am not sure what the exper

Right. That's a common route for those who didn't attend a US university and didn't win the lottery. If you went to a US university, you would have started working on your F1 OPT. You now have 3 years to win the lottery. If t
