I often find when I do get lost in an article, it's common to be something from the New Yorker. The articles are very well written and often explore the story in a way that is factual and creative that I really enjoy. Reading "Pre

Interesting, is there any work done to first evacuate the area of soil or is it simply pushed out of the way using pressure from the concrete?

Amazing read, much longer than I generally get hooked into. I am astonished that "Grouting" (A term i find like many in the engineering word makes a possibly questionable practice sound like a good idea) is a functional, let alone

My initial reaction was "Great!", then i shared this with my partner and her response was "Fuck nestle. They are just saying what people want to hear" Thinking more critically, I share her concern. The way they've b

How has no one mentioned the gears in the background on this page yet? It's a touch distracting, but there is some smart stuff going on to make them line up. Sadly the CSS is optimized, which makes understanding its implementation a li

We did the same thing with HHVM, and had VERY similar results; getting it to work was plain hard, and i had a lot of concerns about our ability to ever go back. Before we ever launched with HHVM completely, PHP7 came out. With only a few we

And peace is boring too, so when we're not actually shooting at each other we use the economy as a weapon. This is no different, if only we could evolve to a point where we were better at working together instead of destroying each-oth

I cant help but think that rather than a race against each other, Boeing should be focused on just making this happens. A coalition of support across these companies (and others like Airbus) is surly better for the human race than pure capi

While I know what you meant in the parent, "numeric timezone" isn't a thing. When it's in a numeric format the correct term is "offset". It cannot be referred to as a timezone as it's timezone will remain

I agree with both the parent and this comment; this is why when i read "Software Engineer" i don't consider it to fit in the same bucket as any other "Engineer" in general. As a "guy who writes code" - cal

The point is that you should be able to disable anything that is connected to the planes electrical system, to stop fires and prevent damaged systems causing issues with other functional systems (i.e. broken GPS causing electrical surges sh

This is the key point, in the case that there is a fire on board (one of the likely possibilities with MH370) you want to be able to disable the offending circuit immediately. If that happened to be your transponder, so be it...the transpon

I don't think that's in question; The simple fact is money for housing is cheap right now, which means it requires more of it to convince owners to part with their assets as most of them still need to buy elsewhere after they sell
