Honestly, it's a milquetoast take. The only advantages of the Switch at this point are Nintendo exclusives and better support. There are some rough edges with the Steam Deck, but it's a bit odd to frame the Switch as "ready f

If you’re using the Dock in the first place, which you really shouldn’t because it’s a waste of screen space, and Exposé, Spotlight, and a decent Cmd+Tab replacement makes for a more better app/window management paradigm.

You seem to be arguing that the intelligence community should take independent actors more seriously than organized extremist groups. I'd recommend developing your position a bit more before trying sarcasm. I'd also avoid rhetoric

For someone concerned with the lack of intellectual seriousness of the New Atheist movement, you seem especially committed to ontological realism. Is there some compelling argument I've missed? That aside, "atheism" can obvio

Maybe I'm more optimistic. Is it our animal nature? Or is it that science is hard, and most people don't have enough formal education in the relevant subjects to know they're out of their depth, let alone to understand these

I hate to use the old cliche, but absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence. There are much older neolithic sites, organized settlements, and evidence of cultural networks that predate Sumerian writing (by a lot). Tally sticks as p

The Cucuteni–Trypillia megasites in Ukraine appear to predate the Mesopotamian ones by a few centuries, though they didn't have writing (apparently).

It seems like it doesn't take much to terminate thought for you. If you want to suggest that moderation and censorship are the same—two concepts with obviously differing senses in English—take a stab at making the argument instead of j

If you'll recall, many of the same people who voted for Trump despised him for his character flaws when he was a Democrat, pre-2015 and pre-birtherism, which again suggests there are more than enough apolitical reasons not to like him.

This is basically right, but if there's a takeaway from Twitter/X's decline it's that users will only tolerate so much and that platform inertia has its limits.

It was in the beginning, but it's gotten better as more people have joined. Of course, some people just claim "echo chamber" when there's not enough political extremism, which seems like a false equivalence.

Sugar yes, but cooking oils and shorteners are used in every food culture in the world. Probably not the issue if you think about it for more than 10 seconds. I don't think the appointment of a medical quack is going to be good for any

We Americans are thinking the same thing. The reality is that America is in the midst of a dramatic cultural decline—especially in rural America, which has become more frivolous, callous, and undignified, even if they're no more unedu

Good idea for people that use the Dock. I can't speak for every single power user, but the first thing I do with a new Mac is hide it to get my vertical pixels back.

Agreed. Unfortunately the ergonomics and the touch surface of the Magic Mouse make it unusable for most people. The charging port issue is a red herring because it doesn't really affect anything but gets lots of attention.

Ultrawides are intriguing, but I'm not sure it's more flexible than a multi-display setup. Not to mention we've had 2160 pixel height displays for well over 10 years now.
