There is also additional risk by overusing CSS's built-in selectors and inheritance, whereas there's zero risk with Tailwind.

The thing is, they were never really separate. The source files were separated, sure, but the way 90% of the world did CSS, there were hidden abstractions relating the class definitions in the .css file and the DOM structure in the .html

> Tailwind does nothing to reduce the mental load on your developers to understand, read, and write in your codebase. In fact it does the opposite. Your developers are not spared the hassle of learning CSS by instead learning tailwind&#x

I think you're going to have trouble defending this position. Chrome hasn't been the best browser for most of its market share lead. Internet Explorer 6 was never the best browser despite leading market share more than any browser

Apple isn’t selling my data, and they make the best consumer hardware, so at this point there aren’t many downsides to Apple lock in.

Adguard works better right now, at least for my purposes. I'm not sure why, but uBO Lite randomly stops working at times. I've had to fire up the test page ( https://ublockorigin.github.io/uBOL-home/tests/

It’s my GET request. I can do what I want with it. If Google want to force ads, they can put them in the video stream. If not, then they’re trying to have it both ways.

This is one more data point for my theory that New Yorkers have, oddly, become the most insular population in the U.S. There is a wide world outside of New York and class-signaling. I think you’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere on Earth wh

It doesn’t adjust correctly much of the time. For example, full screen video controls will effectively disappear, rendering them unususable, in many circumstances (particularly against white backgrounds).

2040 feels far too soon for this thought experiment, at least in the U.S. ICEs will remain the primary vehicle for most families until charging networks are built out. 40-50 years is more realistic.

I think most people understand this, but in reality many homeless do have a choice in their living situation. This idea that they can’t possibly have chosen their life reduces the homeless to human-like primates with no agency. Often they h

This is an odd take. Rorty is one of the major philosophers of the 20th century. MacIntyre is more obscure, probably unknown to plenty of academic philosophers.

I'm not sure where this claim keeps coming from. Voynichese doesn't exhibit the statistical qualities of any known natural language. In a very limited sense, yes, but on balance, no. There is too much repetition for that.

Even before we consider the cipher, there's a huge difference between a constructed language and a stochastic process to generate language-like text.

The appeal of Bluesky, initially, was that Twitter became a deranged platform. I doubt the average user is concerned with central authority insofar as intellectual and moral values inform the goings on. That, rather than centralization, is

Except journalism was happening on Twitter, so by restricting verification to more or less legacy media—-an elite circle of Columbia/NW/Ivy grads that is what, 5% merit-based—-it becomes somewhat of a caste system.

An imperfect system is still better than nothing. Look what happened to Twitter with the removal of its verification (before feckless Musk had driven it fully into the ground).

China is an ethnostate. What does China offer the future to anyone who's not Chinese? Chinese nationals in the United States have substantially more rights than they do in China.

China bans US businesses because it has an autocratic, ethnocratic government. The US is banning a Chinese business for obvious national security reasons.
