This sounds like a nightmare. Following this reasoning, all children would be subject the whims of their backwards city or rural enclave. Parents will have more of an ability to brainwash their kids, I suppose, but that's not what we u

Can you though? I am trying to build a custom keyboard. It's exhausting to sort through the bad layouts, tacky RGB cases, and ugly keycaps. Custom keycap sets rarely have legends for function/media keys. If I find something I like

It's not a matter of bad faith or bad manners. There are numerous ways to solve the problems you are interested in that don't involve wasting so much energy or enriching rent-seeking grifters.

From my experience and from the comments here, frisson seems to be highly personal—what works for you won't work for me. And we can all agree that there is more going on than subverted expectations. My two cents: context often plays a

I agree, but why present the facade of collecting bug reports via a community forum? Years ago Spotify implemented gapless playback because people asked for it. Then they got rid of mail because it wasn’t popular enough. I think they have t

It seems like Spotify’s developers are cut off from public input. For example, when the Electron client was released, they removed the standard back/forward keyboard shortcuts native to macOS (cmd+[ and cmd+]). Clearly, this was a regr

Just because the author used only confirmatory evidence doesn't mean that there isn't a correlation or a causal factor at play. The author didn't posit a theory; he merely pointed out that the maps are interesting. Which they

Is it a failure of capitalism if semi-rich people can't afford to live among rich people on the coasts?

My back-of-the-napkin math suggests you are in a high COL area. It's not an indictment of capitalism if you choose to live in a desirable area, have a generous salary, and just can't make it work. That or you are mishandling your

What's the alternative? This is true of many historical facts we take for granted. The earliest accounts of Jesus were written only one generation after Jesus's death. Plenty of first-hand accounts were still available. There are

Probably more due to Half-Life, TFC, and CS. The enormous player bases were forced to adopt Steam. And then Valve continued to put a few more good games. Honestly CS:S was a bit of a miss—largely considered a failure by the 1.6 community—bu

The claim here is that people are priced out of Macs, not that they aren't more expensive. If a Mac is $2100 instead of $700, that's only a few hundred dollars more per year, or $20-30 a month. In the US, $20 or $30 is negligible
