It's nice to see large manufacturers break out of the 16:9 mold, although I think 4:3, 3:2, or 5:4 would be better for most users. Unfortunately, LG is letting the supply chain dictate panel size for their product team, instead of the

macOS does it by default now. I've found it to be very useful at times. Any image you open in Safari, Preview, etc. (official Apple programs) will be OCR'd automatically, allowing you to extract the text with copy+paste. I think i

Isn't that the point though? If you make a sensitive document unindexable (assuming this works), then effectively no one can find it. The intent here is not to restrict the document to sighted users but to hide the document from every

After owning a Steam Deck for several months, I think it's worth paying ebay prices. They are pretty reasonable if you're used to the scalped GPU/console market. That's just my opinion though.

It depends how you cash out "compatible." Speculative metaphysical theories are compatible with science because they are unprovable and, if true, "override" science as the true cause of the laws of nature and the world.

I think it kind of goes both ways. People knee-deep in the React ecosystem are dismissive of problems that don't require a full application implemented in a heavy, opinionated framework.

This whole piece is spot on. The most obvious example of audience capture that occurs to me is Joe Rogan's podcast. From about 2010-2013, it was a comedy podcast that was just starting to get some high-profile guests. My theory is that

Why not use a clip-on (lapel) mic? A standalone battery pack is somewhat portable and seems less annoying than wearing a choker would be.

You are confusing America, the continent, with America the country. In conventional English, in most of the world, United States residents are called "Americans."

In addition to familysearch.org, I'd recommend getting a DNA test from 23andMe or Ancestry. The relatives matching feature could give you additional leads. DNA + genealogy is the only way to be certain of things.

Given that the early Ancient Greeks were not Jews or Christians, and that most medieval theology heavily rehashes Plato and Epictetus, I'm not sure why anyone would suggest the Bible, rather than classical Greek thought, is the foundat

I strongly agree with one of Dawkins’s most important points, the effectiveness of the reductio ad absurdum as a rhetorical strategy. If you want to persuade people, then you need to meet them where they are and adopt their way of thinking.

I am shopping for one right now. You may be underestimating the price though. Good ebikes (this is a car replacement, after all) are closer to $5k. $8-10k for a high end cargo ebike.

The presence of low-range EVs—many of which need battery or tire replacements—doesn't really change the point. A similarly priced Honda Fit from the same model year is a better value due to its low maintenance costs, fuel economy, and

A good petrol car can be bought used for $15-20k. Comparing the price of a new one to an EV is a false equivalency because you can't buy used EVs for anywhere near that. TCO only favors EVs if you drive enough to offset fuel, oil chang

I don't know, but Steven Pinker (the loudest proponent of this claim) says such sincerely, and besides him, most ordinary people are moral/value realists and think there are genuine answers to these types of questions.
