No one denies that the congenital blind have aphantasia. The problem is that many people default to thinking that their experience is exceptional, when in reality it's completely typical. Once you get past that, there's no "t

I wonder what it's like to be born blind and have zero visualization ability. Then I wonder what it must feel like for that person to read sighted people on the Internet debate their supposed lack of visualization abilities.

I have doubts about aphantasia as a legitimate phenomenon, but whether it is or it isn't, it seems likely that many of the positive reports are a result of a misunderstanding, semantic or otherwise.

It is a red flag to me too. If you have working vision, the brain is doing a ton of post-processing that you're unaware of. The eyes are part of the brain, after all. Closing them with your eyelids doesn't magically turn off those

"Exist" is probably the wrong framing. It doesn't seem unreasonable that such a phenomenon could occur after a traumatic brain injury, for instance. I'm sure there's some evidence of it, neurologically (like split-b

You're right. My prices were a few years off. Still, nowhere near the $50k mark.

It cuts both ways. A GPU in your basement is a depreciating asset with fixed computing power and consumes electricity. Switching model providers is trivial.

That's only half the reason it's expensive. The other reason is that it would likely take years to spend $4000 (plus the real cost of electricity) worth of tokens on a 3rd-party provider that's running a similar limited, DS F

The median price is high because Americans tend to buy more car than they can afford and/or need. If we look at what you can realistically buy OTD (out the door) prices, the picture changes. New Odyssey/Sienna are coming in the lo

That’s compatible with the thesis though. Read past the headline. He says good founders learn actual stuff at college and get good at something, without any ambition to make it profitable initially.

Small nitpicky correction, but in China, city tiers are designated by policy and generally correlate to the quality of life for the middle class there. The US doesn't have a tier system. If it did, it wouldn't make much sense beca

Given that like omnigent and qm already integrate with Slack, it's not a huge surprise that Slack is building agent capabilities directly in. Personally, I'm getting ecosystem fatigue. Who even has the time to set up pilots to fea

My org's GitHub Enterprise never goes down. The feature set is almost the same, though it lags a few months behind. At least you don't have to learn anything new.

My convictions are pretty hollow because I'm demonstrating the pointlessness--or arbitrariness, if you like--of gatekeeping the ranks of the "well-educated," as the author tries to do here.

If one builds something with an agent, the process itself is largely opaque. Preserving the transcript shows the reasoning of the agent and the decision process of the builder. This way everyone's on the same page instead of re-prompti

I switched to auto mode after using manual mode long enough to understand how it works. That takes at least a few days of babysitting prompts. Will new users feel intimidated by being in auto mode right away? More likely they won’t notice.

I wondered this too. Also, the duration of the task depends on the quality of the prompt and the model used. I have a feeling a lot of these day-long tasks are bogged down by suboptimal tool use and on-demand python slop.

Trump was elected because of rural/exurban white insecurity and white cultural decline. An election wasn't the cause of all this--it was more of an effect. In other words, even if there's a feedback loop, an election won'
