If the recruiter replied and said as much I would have been ok with that. At least they were communicating. Plus covid didn’t effect the US big time until March. That’s all of Jan + Feb they had to let me know something was going on.

They called me eventually were kind on the call. But the whole communication issues leading up to that really ruined it for me. I was initially quite excited too. I have no idea if this is common or if my recruiter was especially bad. Readi

Sounds like my experience with their recruiting. Nov 2019 - interviews Dec 2019 - passed hiring committee Dec to June 2020 - emailed recruiter every two weeks never heard back June 2020 - cold email from recruiter “here is your offer letter

This is a great point. It’s a conversation about the place these companies should hold in our lives, in democracy and their ability to control information. I wish people would admit that directly and focus on that discussion. Instead I see

This is cool. There’s a few National Scenic Trails missing from the US. You may also consider the Great Western Loop as a thru-hike although it’s technically a loop. There are some popular trails not included in the national scenic trail li

I was also ghosted after passing hiring committee. The least they could have said was “sorry no updates right now”

That won’t work in all cases. For instance, if you get messages from devices which can be reimaged they may have clock skew in a period of time before they’re synchronized again.

I learned in 2020 that if you want to do something, you should do it. I’ve had a lot of lost opportunities in different categories. Saving money is important to me. But so is doing fun things and a lot of times those two are opposed. Like m

Facebook can remove news and it will minimally effect engagement. I wonder what happens to the publishers when they lose 2.3BN clicks.

I don’t like FB as a company. However I have to admit, they are correct that news organizations benefit the most from this relationship. Why doesn’t google do the same thing? Don’t index news sites. Googles response seemed less effective th

I agree. But this would reduce engagement and therefore profits. Do you see FB opting in to reducing profits?

This is happening a bit in Seattle too. I was able to negotiate a _decrease_ in rent after several years of 9% increases. 10% is the max allowed increase in Seattle if I understand the rules correctly.

My team wrote an analyzer to prevent use of DateTime. Now and enforce DateTime.UtcNow instead. Helps us prevent weird time bugs. Neat stuff. The code for it took me a while to get used to, lots of strange looking syntax and types.

Total catch 22. I’ve told recruiters something I’m excited about with my current role before and they’ve said “seems like you really like your team are you even serious about switching jobs”.....
