Why do You believe that programming is itself horrible? I do it for almost 20 years and have love and hate relationship with it, but would never say its intrinsically horrible - its just a tool (the real hell is other people as they say :))

If You believe that world where everybody has escaped reality is somehow better, then probably Yes. Other than that You are just helping others to coast along waiting for nothingness to take them back.

Cynicism or realizm? Sometimes its really hard to tell because the people that call You cynic are often lost in their idealizm. And I believe that depression in this situation means that You are simply still expecting too much.

I suspect that there is some overgeneralization going on with the term "talent". We see something that is hard for us and we immediately throw it in the same bag. Even if there can be some better explanation. There is a lot of mic

I met some really hard working people that literally had no good ideas - only poor clones of the most obvious solutions. So for me, event if it took him some work, he was far above most of others. And I like to read the quote about Feynman

Disclaimer: Unfortunately I believe that engaging others is always a case of emotional intelligence and communication skills. There is no amount of rational arguments that can bring them on Your side if they do not feel that You are right.

It has been rather long time since I studied philosophy but I remember somehow fuzzily that stoicism is what You are looking for. It has some good ideas about being good (or rather better because they did not believed in absolutes). https:
