> Non-technical teams are now shipping production code With the amount of tech leaders blabbering about this, I came to the conclusion that the profession of the future is going to be Security Engineer.

they interviewed me for a generic role and placed me on Reality Labs, and I had a hunch it would go down swiftly (org was decimated 9 months later) so I didn't go.

Not a security guy here. How did the dependency get compromised, exactly? Did they submit a PR into the main repo at github and it was approved by the maintainers? Or just host compromised versions in other mirrors?

I don't understand this comment at all. Are you being sarcastic? Digging at the developers? At Meta?

I was offered $1.15m a year to work there back in 2022. That's why.

25 years into my career here. Motivation is awesome to get you that rush to start building something. Discipline, however, is far more important and will get you more success than anything else. Discipline for what? Achieving goals that you

I was in Shanghai recently and while casually testing one of their AI chat bots I typed "What do you think of the situation in Taiwan?". It started discussing like a Western bot would - "it's complicated, etc. etc."

The demand for EVs is crashing across the board. Porsche for example is now in dire straits because they had promised to make the 718 only as EV and with demand going down, they'll revamp the platform and get ICE 718s back.

I know you're speaking half in jest but the C-suite of my area actually used a tweet by an OpenAI executive as the agenda for an AI brainstorm meeting.

I work for a large tech company, and our CTO has just released a memo with a new rubric for SDEs that includes "AI Fluency". We also have a dashboard with AI Adoption per developer, that is being used to surveil the teams lagging

I constantly think whether it’s viable to build robust software to get rid of slop, AI or non AI. I see tough challenges (platforms don’t care), but also see value. Does anyone have an opinion?

This is the correct take. I was at Amazon not long ago and their Ads business is now absolutely massive and growing. Anything that takes away from that is bad news for their growth numbers.

One previous company I was CTO of got acquired by Amazon and they spent 60 days going through everything, including every line of code. I doubt a fraud of this caliber would have gone unnoticed with that kind of due diligence.

I made the move from CA to TX and don't regret it. 1. No state income tax. 2. Lower cost of living. 3. Less government interference in private affairs. 4. Less out-of-touch wokeness in public policy. 5. Shoplifting and car break-ins ar
