My lasting (but maybe wrong) impression of the semantic web was that it was basically about interconnecting things. I think when focus shifted to mobile, where closed app store with isolated apps were the norm, that idea became less practic

I have a hard time seeing how that is accurate. People misjudge the timing and widespread it will be, but those next big things you mentioned are billion dollar industries now. WebTV -> YouTube, Netflix. VR -> Warcraft, EVE Online, Mi

I think it's a fair characterization of some sort of minimum commitment as an employee. Especially if you're new to the industry sticking around for 5+ years is going to be a waste of time, rarely will the company match your marke

Don't forget that not only is the chinese market huge, and one of the few where there's limited competition from other western companies, it's greatly positioned for the needs of rising economies. Especially if IOT takes off.

That's actually far more relevant than a lot of YC startups. Custom packaging is a big trend in Asia and far more evolved than in the west.

Yes, but the technology they are researching (full autonomous) is still further down the road than something like highway autonomy only. Which would still give you most of the benefits of an autonomous car in boredom, accident and unproduct

Generally I would say that a company like Google is researching self-driving, while a company like Volvo is building self-driving cars . It's very likely that Google has the edge when it comes to something like autonomous taxis (i.e.

To me, unless things have changed, electron is crazy. Many people today use some sort of abstraction layer that generates their html/css. I really hope they move towards interfacing js or node.js directly with skia (which is the graphi
