Yeah no Ive tried that and Im not playing the game of constantly turning it on and off. 3 taps x 10,000 times = 30,000+ taps. Id rather pay the $2 for Neo Noir or figure out how to code this extension myself in the iOS developer kit at that

Not really the same thing. But thanks for sharing nonetheless. That changes your whole system which makes certain sprites look weird.

And don’t even get me started on mobile browsers. On iOS I don’t think there is even a way to get a black background on webpages without shelling out money for an Safari extension like Neo Noir. This seems like a basic feature which should

Only if someone volunteers and submits those glyphs which isnt necessarily guaranteed to happen as I mentioned many unicode 14 codepoints still dont have glyphs in unifont.

Unifont is missing tons of glyphs. I dont think any singlular font covers all the characters.

Random question but do you people who play flight simulators but never flown a real plane think that if you were on a commercial passenger jet and the pilots became incapacitated that you would be able to take over the controls and land the

It wasnt just Cloudflare. There were other providers which deplatformed them recently too. (DdosGuard to name one). It also wasnt just hosting, but their domains are being cancelled by registrars. (ISNIC, 2 days ago). This coordinated depla

Cloudflare taking down websites in this manner a brand new fad. Their own blog post frames their decision to take such content down as sort of a new phenomenon. Logically we can deduce that it's probably going to happen more now. And y

I'm not arguing who's responsibility it is. I'm just pointing out that in practice, when you force an ideology on people + take away any outlet for them to express dissent(through deplatforming/censorship etc) then this

Rogue individuals can come to any website and post death threats. How the moderation team reacts historically or in the present has no bearing on that. The reason why it hasnt happened to HN is simply because no one started a targeted campa

People shouldnt be forced to accept diversity. It should be opt-in. Forcing anything on a person against their will does not work and leads to radicalization. The harder they push, the more radicalized people become. This is what leads to a

Dont you understand that if your website accepts user-generated comments then what users post is completely out of your control? All you can do is delete the comments. But that isn't considered good enough anymore. How would you feel i

The problem with hosting providers closing down websites over non-criminal speech violations is that it enables anyone with a grudge to shut down any website they dislike. Previously it used to take a court order to shut down a website, Now

Still, a perfectly valid and relevant submission that the community is interested in and wishes to discuss can be suppressed by just 1 rogue individual with a botnet. That sounds like a broken system to me.

Also why do [flagged] comments/submissions have to disable replys? I can understand hiding/collapsing them by default - but forbidding replies does nothing but stifle free speech and makes it so other users cannot correct misinfor

No one knows how many upvotes or comments the submission would have without the censorship because the fact its [flagged] means no one can reply. The first few times I submitted posts about other aspects to this story, they did get several

I wish there was a bot that automatically archived [flagged] posts. the fact users here can use botnets to flag/remove any submission or post they dislike makes Hacker News positively useless for whistleblowing. I learned from experi
