Assuming we're only talking about the iPhone APIs, then there's no NSImage or CIImage (Mac OS X desktop only). As for UIImage and CGImageRef, which are on the iPhone, UIImage is an Objective-C class, whereas CGImageRef is a C opaque struct.

I really wish Apple didn't require a 500-employee headcount and a D&B number to be an enterprise customer. They should relax the constraints so that small businesses can start making internal apps.

All I can say is thank goodness I can use Git with Subversion without anyone being the wiser. Local feature branches are one of the godsends of DVCS.

I'd like to know how that transition is going for you. Are you having the expected difficulty of explaining a DVCS workflow? Any difficulties converting CVS modules to git repositories? At work, I'm stuck on CVS. I'd love to use git, but

Personally, I use Linux servers, but at work we still buy and use Solaris 10 on Sun boxes. Yes, 90% of the databases we access are Oracle. Yes it's very enterprisey.

What I always find to be so frustrating is that I see co-workers doing non-work related things with the company's resources all the time: long personal telephone conversations, online shopping, reading sports or politics-related content on

I'd say universities are to blame. My alma mater's main selling point is its co-op program. Instead of 4 years of straight classes, you have 5 years total split up as follows: - freshman year as normal - the next 3 years are spent with 6

Yeah, at first I thought it would have been implemented using J2EE pattern-compliant servlets, JSP, and some combination of EJB/Hibernate/JPA mess. I'm glad the author didn't go that far.

Yep, my employer still uses CVS, and by "uses" I really mean blindly commits everything (including output files) using TortoiseCVS with no commit messages. No branches, almost no tags. I mentioned git once to my boss and it was definitely

If you happen to know of a place where you earnestly hear "take the week off, thanks for your heroics!", please don't be stingy with their URL. I'd be interested in working there.

Yeah, if that picture has any accuracy, it'll be Java in Eclipse. I stare at Eclipse doing Java all day at work. That is definitely Eclipse and the format and length of the lines of code look like Java. Is Amazon hoping/expecting big comp

Family Guy and Futurama were originally cancelled by Fox and it took years of good ratings by re-running these shows on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim for Fox to take a second look at them. So, I don't know if Fox would keep a Conan show long
