I may be wrong, but I always thought stderr was for diagnostic messages as well as errors, in which case red wouldn't really be appropriate. I almost think we need another output stream for something that's neither an error nor output of th

It's a shame the Android emulator doesn't use x86 and wrap the host OpenGL APIs. Currently it emulates ARM (with qemu IIRC?) and then has the emulated ARM processor emulate OpenGL with "PixelFlinger". I'm another Android developer who only

I notice that in the Windows dialogs, the wrong button is often highlighted - for example, No is highlighted in "Do you want to allow changes", and Cancel is highlighted in the Firefox "Opening" dialog. Maybe it'd be better to highlig

Handy, but I don't see the point in this being anything to do with CoffeeScript until it's an extension to the syntax itself. It currently seems to be a simple addition to the Function prototype for Javascript, and happens to be written in

I hope they can pull this off, because my experience with Vim emulation plugins is they don't even come close to being Vim. Vim is so vast that everyone has their own way of using it, and what one person might consider an obscure feature co

Why didn't you call it something non-controversial like "A visualisation of open-source software dependencies" instead of "A nice picture of (dependency) hell" , then?

▲

In my opinion, that's the very definition of dependency hell - when the system is so badly designed, software is forced to bundle everything and never share it.

Exactly. This is code reuse done properly, not "dependency hell".

I wonder whether your huge[1] runtime had any effect on the benchmarks. Wouldn't using pure Javascript have been a better idea? I also notice your "C++" version used Direct3D. Shouldn't you have used OpenGL with the exact same calls as the

Well, you do (as of Flash Player 9) need a policy server [1] running, so connecting to existing services is still pretty much impossible. [1] http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/socket_poli...

Pretty cool, but the method for "downloading" looks painful (converting the generated ZIP to base64 in order to use it as an URL). I wonder what the size limit is?

I don't agree - You look at the CPU and GPU specs to see how fast a game will run, not something like Siri. You look at the storage to see how many MP3s you can fit on there, not how many calendar entries. Sure, a lot of the applications

The comment was in response to "Why switch to XFCE? Can't you just install Gnome?" . GNOME 3 most definitely "pulls the UI rug" with massive, controversial changes from previous versions. XFCE has yet to do anything like this.

I agree with this, but whenever I use my MBP I'm forced to use the trackpad because the mouse acceleration in OS X is so bad . I've tried things like Decelerate and had no joy - the movement of the cursor just seems not to match up with my

I don't think presenting a retro platformer (which, FWIW, crawls here in FF 8) really argues your case much. Why should developers go back to making simpler games to get adequate HTML5 performance when they could develop directly for the ta
