I don’t know who needs to hear this but raising a ton of money is not success. Also interesting from their Series C press release from earlier this year: > With this large Series C, we have entirely de-risked capital going forward, which

I was interviewing interns before this, starting in 2013 or so. There are plenty of more useful questions you can ask. Tell me about a project you’ve worked on, then many follow ups, for example. Asking about group project dynamics or somet

A classically terrible interview question. Solving riddles in realtime is almost never a real job skill. _Maybe_ in an incident, but you’d be relying on tooling and experience, not an intern. Same with leetcode at startups. It makes no sens

In US politics, the right is far, far better at winning elections than the left. This isn’t about personal preference. It’s objective political science. Look at the most contentious issues in the US: abortion, climate change, taxing the wea

If you think that the American Left is anything like communism, I’m sorry, but, respectfully, I can’t take your comments seriously. The left in the US would be center-right in Europe, who are certainly not communist (they have separate part

You’re making a weird number of assumptions about people’s voting and extrapolating to assertions about Society. Ads are not really the same. They can’t be as tightly targeted to what resonates with someone. Programmatic ads are certainly m

We will get much better at manipulation and better at people “writing” things to justify their own feelings. What’s new about LLMs is that you can scalably manipulate people individually. It used to be that you could either have scale (spee

Python uses comprehensions because whitespace sensitivity was a horrendous language decision, then couldn’t find a way to support multiline lambdas. Comprehensions are not a well-designed feature but a consequence of poor design.

Cursor was lambasted from the start because they wrote blog posts about writing a browner “from scratch in rust” but it was neither without dependencies nor actually worked. It was not serious engineering. It was a side project experiment w

You’re talking about the same fund. They were open about their gains. It was the margin calls and illiquidity that got them, not going negative. Some of their assets, like Anthropic stock, isn’t worthless, it’s just illiquid.

In a similar way that Python won, despite having some pretty delulu characteristics. Whitespace sensitivity is horrendous (can’t autoformat, no multi-line lambdas, bonkers inline list comprehensions) but here we are.

It's helpful to see it all in one place and be able to iterate with it independently of implementation. It's good at asking questions, then whipping up various options of designs that you can compare side-by-side. I'm not sur
