This quickly fell from the front page as a lot of articles related to anything congress or US president have recently. It’s really annoying. I want to have the discussion. There’s some interesting things to understand here like whether cong

The placement is intentional. I passed my eyes in a ring around the keys on my left and right hands and roughly placed the Rad Type characters in the position of the corresponding key. V is below F on the keyboard so it's below F on Ra

I tried a few letter layouts including a Dvorak inspired one. Ultimately it’s easiest to use for most folks if they generally know where to look for a letter from muscle memory. I’ll look into the switched letter tomorrow morning and may ad

This is great feedback. I’ll look into the controller mapping tomorrow morning.

Yeah, I also figured there may be a more optimal placement of the additional buttons. I’ve been working on this for a couple months though and wanted to bias towards getting it in front of people :)

This isn’t supported in this version. I considered supporting them with the back triggers.

This is interesting. I’m familiar with Perlins noise but I’ve never seen this page.

I didn’t formally measure but if I had to guess I’d estimate I’m hitting ~40 words per minute on the last example.

A designer I work with also recommended this approach. I also think word prediction could go a long way towards speeding it up further.

I haven’t used a steam controller but I’ve heard they may have used a radial typing interface. Sadly I can’t find any examples in a quick google search. It looks like the most recent version of their keyboard uses the touch capabilities of

The interface is pretty good on touch too. I have a feeling that a radial input like this can also benefit phone because your thumb is equidistant from every character.

A new way to type on gamepads designed around the hardware rather than trying to fit gamepad input to a qwerty keyboard. I’ve been working on it for a few months and I’m hoping to have a demo up at 7:00 PST today for HN to play with :)

Agreed. It isn’t like crypto where the proponents proclaimed some use case that would prove value always on the verge of arriving. AI is useful right now. People are using these tools now and enjoying them.

Very interesting that this is on the front page. I’m totally out of the loop here and the title and even descriptions seem like some arcane spellbook in a mystical language. There must be some niche of Hacker News I’ve fallen totally out of

There is a lot of busy work that Engineers have to do. My experience is that engineers are usually over-utilized so they naturally deprioritize things that aren't mission critical or aren't providing them value. In that regard, I

Agreed, I don’t think the analogy holds in this case. Elon is grape maker and he can dole out sour or sweet grapes as he pleases. No point in eating them if you don’t favor him because he often gives out sour ones to those folks.

Agreed, I’ve used both at work and personal projects. Copilot auto complete is great but it isn’t ground breaking. Cursor has built near entire features for me. I think copilot could get there TBH. I love most Microsoft dev tools and IDEs.

Honestly the message seems pretty tone deaf. I feel like each subsequent social media platform has been the next example of, “doing it right.” Only to ultimately fall into the same footsteps as predecessors. I don’t mean to say it’s a bad i

I’ve been using more and more AI tools in my development and getting a lot of mileage. Cursor is the latest one I’ve adopted and it’s impressive even without rules. I’ll give this a try soon. Thanks for sharing!

This is a winning comment IMO. Trump is like a random walk with a high multiplier. Tariffs could go away on Monday… or inexplicably be doubled.
