Hope it's not seen as criticism... but I could love more elaborate examples... Checking the examples, my friction here is... why should I introduce a new language for those things? First example program equivalence: tr -s '

As always, thanks for the article (and the debate). DNS itself, as an internet protocol, is "easy" in principle. I did implement and maintain DNS services at the beginning of my career, for more than 200 customers, without any tit

Sorry, it's not Devuan, but Debian 11.6, previously was 10.x and was on testing until Bullseye was released. Works for me without systemd, no problem. I already use systemd in hundreds of systems at work and personal servers/vps.

Fortunately, we can still use Debian without systemd. I'm forced to use systemd in many places, but for example this laptop were I'm writing runs Debian without systemd. For me it's more to worry about: the influence that pai

Not so new age... but in IRC, the evalbot in #bash, did use something similar with QEMU: > Initially, Qemu is booted and its state is saved. On each evaluated command, this state is loaded (giving a usable shell in less than one second),

Conventions are great, but that doesn't look like anything specific to make, a shell wrapper could do that: #!/bin/sh case $1 in init) ... do whatever for each project init ;;

Always preferred direct cloudformation, instead of terraform, and this was one of the main reasons. Does it support load balancers? And... block storage? snapshots? something like IAM roles and policies? I can see how to do it with "ge

Agree with this, but the openbsd codebase, tends to be pretty consistent in style conventions and layout. Fortunately, the word complexity was not used there, and it's nice to see if this subsystem, or protocol, or driver, etc takes tw

This can be done playing with a number of lines... like 10 or 15. And it will stay at such distance (in lines) from the top or bottom... Don't know a way to set it to a percent, but could be nice too, indeed.
