If you install a minimal Debian server avoiding recommends, and remove a few non critical packages, you can remove python, and start building from there. No problem. Nothing is wrong. If you go with a default installation, and start buildin

That's true. Currently using fixed type only in the window manager (bars and wm menus) but a sans type font in everything that is not a terminal. Thanks for taking the time to improve this font and publish it with proper build instruct

I think the title is misleading. There was xdialog 20 years ago. And libnotify has like 15 years too. I understand "modern bash" as in any other scripting or programming language: It's about what caveats of the language quirk

NextCloud in the 90's ...? I think the point is not about "add an abstraction layer" and "the problem is gone". You could make a tar.gz of a chroot in the 90's too, or you could make a snapshot of an VM. Or you

I've work in all kind of places as sysadmin (or now devops) since the beginning of the century. Have seen what you call old-school maybe, the VMware era, Xen, colocated infra ,owned infra, ... The Cloud(s)... and finally docker (and la

Regarding games schedule, if the user is not root you can use cron or systemd timers, but this could be more user friendly for a child: Create a zenity, xdialog, or any kind of graphical dialog explaining why it's not gaming time (even

In the worse case, try to automate that boring stuff, build metrics, and see the improvement. A chaotic CEO will challenge you at any time too. And will generate new (and curious) problems. There are many of them. I use to ask two questions

Years ago, un my home, i used 2 layers of routers: 1 Linux and 1 openbsd. In front of the Linux there was a cable-modem, and behind there where a couple DMZs, with servers, and wifi, and my home LAN. I had my own DNS/DHCP servers. Almo
