Not to hijack the thread but I also ran across http://www.opengateway.net/ , an installable (as opposed to SaaS) recurring billing solution. Was wondering if anyone had tried it or had feedback.

Doesn't mention dunning specifically but does say "automatic emails which are sent during specific events such as a new charge, new recurring charge, expiration, cancellation, upcoming expiration, upcoming charge, etc." .

Fair enough, but either option is going to be much more than you'd get in a basic VPS.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with renting as long as you can. You can buy a very cheap server that's much more capable than a cheap VPS server. Here are some decent servers for about $300; you can often find good servers for $150: http://w

Here's the feedback I just submitted to Chargify: While I entirely understand the need to charge and make money, I find the sudden and significant change in pricing jarring. Many people just went from 0 to $1200 per year. I'm guessing the c

Thanks for the love :-) Xpenser for Business is the commercial version of the product for businesses, and it's bringing in a good bit of revenue. At the moment it's by request/invite only, but will be generally available soon. Anyone intere

$3 per user per month is expensive. Looking at the price SaaS offerings, they're generally in the $5-$15 per user per month range, so $3/month is a good chunk of change. It's even worse for advertising based services, who generally make far

FWIW I've personally dealt with Arrington on a less than pleasant occasion, and despite things not going my way I have to say he acted with integrity and passion, and kept the interests of the entrepreneur in mind the whole time. He won my

I don't think they've released the scraper yet, have they? They said they would, but it wasn't part of the release last I checked. One idea might be to have a consortium of startups interested in the topic use and maintain Wesabe's scrapers

Companies should not be making offers for positions they cannot afford, regardless of what's going on at the company. If the money is not in the bank they shouldn't be making the offer. This is serious stuff; they're playing with people's l

You should absolutely let it be known who this company is. If you're uncomfortable do it anonymously. Rescinding an offer after a candidate has quit an existing job is shameful and anyone doing it should be outed for all potential candidate

Crunchbase is quite useful and the APIs are nice (although sometimes flaky), but it only covers a small subset of the companies out there. I was looking for something more general - eg. find all auto-repair shops within 50 miles of location

You might want to check out http://xpenser.com/ . It does a great job with capturing and reporting on your expenses, but doesn't do the planning part (how long can I live off my current net worth). It's free, and lets you capture expenses

Analysts are like scouts for VC firms - they're assigned or decide on a vertical, then talk to as many companies as they can in that vertical. If the analyst likes what he hears you may get a shot at the partners who actually make decisions
