It absolutely is a cash grab, and part of a series of unethical behaviour from Apple. Since the latest awful hardware products (terrible keyboard, control strip thing that breaks, no escape key) with MacBooks and a great improvement with us

This is just a cash grab from Apple, and part of a series of unethical behaviour by a monopoly (eg app store dictatorship). This would be totally unnessisary if apps could run in a sandbox. It wouldn't matter if I run some random game

Now we can use this new AI to train another AI that can defeat it. And so continues the great cat vs mouse chase. I don't think this is a problem that is ever going to be solved. Deep fakes will become more and more popular, and harder

I think it's highly likely they considered it. One of Apple's main marketing pieces is security/privacy. It's important as they push into the health and payment marketplaces (for things like the iWatch and contactless pa

AMD does have a similar backdoor, called the PSP [1]. Both Intel ME and PSP are second chips that run separate from your main CPU, and can turn on/control/intercept the main CPU without the owners knowledge. ARM does not have this

It will be interesting if Apple does announce a move to ARM for (at least some of) their macbook range. Not surprising though, as Intel has refused to remove the vulnerable backdoor [1] (Intel Management Engine) from all their new chips, co

It crashes for me, (using Brave 1.10.90 on macOS 10.15.5), then I click the paint button with Error code: RESULT_CODE_UNINSTALL_USER_CANCEL. Works fine in Safari though.

It's the only way. Companies will not choose ethical options of their own accord. The only language they speak is money. If people are willing to spend the money they will keep doing what sells. If we stop "renting" hardware

Apple spies too. Their core business model just isn't based on selling that data. Apple knows every single app you've installed on your phone, the version, the time you installed it, every update you've ever had, how often yo

Apple's dictatorship program (the app store) is horrific. I strongly believe if you buy a device, you should own that device and be in control of what you put on that device. The fact Apple will not let you put anything on your phone t

I won't :P But in seriousness, Go compiles like lightening for me. But yeah, I think everyone has their own needs when they choose their tools. I choose Node for its speed at development and runtime.

As a functional developer who doesn't care for TypeScript in any way, it's frustrating to see Deno has it "built-in". As a node developer writing pure none-compiled JavaScript, my run time is extremely fast from changing

Na, just make it illegal. Governments are increasingly eroding people's freedoms. Let's remove another one, and force everyone to wear approved and regulated clothing. You know, for your own safety.

I'm not too sure what ublock does entirely, but it seems to focus more on blocking content of the site. Like images, iframes, scripts, etc. Chrome does a lot of calling home. Like, a LOT [1][2]. For example, it checks sites are "s

So does anyone know now if AMD Vulkan GPU's are fully open sourced? i.e. can we build everything from source, firmware, drivers, app and then use it without having to trust any blobs?
