There is still the problem of ARM being superior. You can’t put a “low power” x86 5nm chip in a phone right now and expect it to be on par with the iPhone. edit: also don’t forget intels fabs are actually better than tsmc when nodes are the

Linux support on consumer hardware depends on community contribution generally. So it will take time generally to have good support. However in 2021 it’s no longer necessary to buy a good laptop and struggle to put linux on it. There are so

They (community) are adding linux boot to macs with m1 chip. It requires quite a bit of work since apple doesn’t provide any documentation to boot other operating systems let alone drivers and so it will require patches in the kernel to eve

Macbooks make one of the good linux laptops (the ones that have support like older retina macbooks). And the truth is Macbook Air is one of the handful ARM consumer laptops you can easily buy right now even though ARM is the superior everyd

So they are essentially a combination of chips rather than a combination of logical units. I always assumed these ‘chips’ are made of logical units like computer cpus 20 years ago with different logical units but that is not true. This is p

I just realised after years of learning about how cores work that the big.LITTLE design is actually two CPUs not two sets of cores. With a third X1 core CPU we would then have 3 CPUs in a phone ... wow ...

As someone who is comfortable with linux and macOS and also someone who used an M1 MBA here is my take because this article does not do justice to each of the platform pros and cons: 1. The M1 Macs are amazing. If you are the kind of person

More like ISP StreamingService partnership did this since it is far cheaper for them to streaming from edge boxes at their own CDNs than p2p which hurt the ISPs because they have to pay for peering bandwidth. Also streaming services are jus

DRM is a problem everywhere including linux and running ChromiumOS. There is a protected path from the stream to the display that needs to be "certified" in order to support something like 1080p. I guess for payments it's sim

Wow this is great and seems like a direct competitor to UniFi. Few years back when I was researching meraki I found it way too pricey for small business over UniFi but this makes much more sense now.

I’ve owned unifi at home for about 6 years now. Their access points are a different kind of value for money. But their software stack is really annoying. First it needs java. They have switched to Apps as option but that limits the setting

The smallnetbuilder review of AC68u goes into detail on this. But I think newer wifi routers have fixed this that support USB ports. http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-reviews/322...

Hmm smart... the bigger problem however is that users buy 1$ chargers at local gas stores and thats gonna destroy their phones. One might think a person spending 800$ on a phone may spend 20$ on a charger but its quite easy for them to buy

Question: Since mass exerts gravitation force, wouldn’t it mean that any mass of any size shape would do that? Just because we don’t have a scientific experiment to measure gravitational forces at small scales doesn’t mean they don’t exist

Netflix is so much superior to Prime. Prime has a hard time maintaining 1080p but Netflix has such varying bitrates from as low as 1mbps to as high as 20mbps while watching The crown. And the best part is how snappy the app itself is and in
