I guess I skipped "up and running" and opted for "a first hour with ocaml" [1] In my defense, [1] makes no reference to dune, which I am excited to try out. [1] https://ocaml.org/learn/tutorials/

(Inspired by this post,) I gave the official ocaml tutorial a whirl. I quite enjoyed the syntax, and the easy install (of opam). However, I thought I should mention that I got _exactly_ as far as [0] (found while trying to google a solution

And, by my estimate, Django has been around ~9 years longer than Phoenix. Comparing DjangoPackages[0] and awesome-elixir[1], sure you could say "there's an elixir package for everything", but how battle-tested are they? How w

The most compelling reason is probably still the open source ecosystem. There's just a relative plethora of django extensions and plugins that Phoenix (and Elixir) lacks.

I am an order of magnitude more productive in Scala, compared to python. The compiler does so much for me, I can focus on just writing my domain. Frankly, I think Scala is just good at exposing weak programmers and teams with poor disciplin

I think DRF Viewsets may be easy to replicate with the help of class based views from fastapi-utils[0] But I agree that Admin is still the missing killer feature from the fastapi ecosystem. But it looks like there is an emerging ORM/Ad

The current situation feels, to me, like it can be summed up as: If you have to keep telling me how great it (Miami) is, it's probably not that great and you're (media, investors, etc) incentivized to convince me it is.

The mayor of Miami has been pushing hard for the city to be seen as a destination for technology companies. Either we have different definitions of "going unnoticed" or "massive change".
