If it were a top notch product, I'd probably pay $20/month for it.

Huh. I initially had the dilemma framed in my mind as an environmental, not economic one. Interesting perspective shift.

If someone nailed discussion search, I'd have no use for Google for 90% of my searching. As it is, most of my searches are a series of: site:<reddit/ycombinator/stackoverflow/tripadvisor/random niche forum.com>

Thanks for the reminder. I just downloaded the latest FF beta and exiled Chrome to an "only when needed" role. All the back-and-forth about speed and features is understandable, but misses the point that Firefox needs our support

Would love to read an interview about the decision making process. I'm especially interested if sustainability factored in, given Arizona's relationship with water resources.

There was a marked shift at the beginning of this year. I think everyone got political fatigue and Facebook was a channel for exacerbating the overexposure.

There's no way the returns on investing in making the mall a pleasurable place to hang out in the short term outweigh the costs, but if people depended on malls as part of their area's social fabric, I doubt they would be facing t

I'm planning on making the same switch. My main use case for Dropbox was having access to my photos from anywhere, but they have systematically hobbled their photo capabilities beginning with the sunsetting of Carousel to the recent re

Yep. Growing up in an unremarkable Denver suburb, it was amusing moving to Boulder for college to see newcomers try to out-Colorado each other.

Born and raised there. Off the top of my head: - Not much diversity aside from a large Hispanic population - Sprawl. Endless repetitive suburbs - I've heard people from large cities complain about it being boring - Increasingly crowded

It is interesting to me that this topic provokes angry responses. I find the tenor of debate on this subject similar to what you'd find in reply to an article about early retirement through discipline in savings.

This mirrors my experience. When I enrolled in a CS masters in 2006, I was repeatedly questioned why I would enter the field when all those jobs would be going to India.
