Linux disclaims all liability in the license. Seems like Apple might be bound by a few more laws because they are actually selling a product.

Your examples don't change the message of the story: different things respond differently to the same conditions. The semantics don't really matter; it's not about the specific interpretations of the states of the food. Your analysis and

<joke>I see you're the egg. ;)</joke> We don't do parables too often here at HN; a clever one making it to the front page one every half-year seems worthwhile to me. Some people find them to be useful mental tools. Others

At 16 years old? I don't think so. Asking for advice is absolutely the right thing to do.

I wouldn't. Take more AP classes now, and then in three years decide whether you want to graduate college early. Either way you save a year, but in college you'll be older and able to make better decisions. You need to give yourself time t

Not at all with Scheme. PLT Scheme is an awesome example of a centralized, well documented language with easy installation and application deployment. Note the prominent download link on the home page: http://www.plt-scheme.org/

Except that Wordpress is written in PHP and designed without security as a goal. True, security is all about probability, but Wordpress' odds are not that good.

Sorry for the long comment, I just don't want to come off like I'm sniping at you, or trying to start an OS war. Actually, the long comment is much appreciated. It's a very interesting subject for me. I wasn't trying to say that I doubte

Windows security is better than Linux and BSD? I thought SELinux, TrustedBSD, and OpenBSD have windows beat.

Hrm, interesting. I didn't know that Microsoft was leading the industry in security. If we're talking about the commercial OS market, I suppose that makes sense because you're pretty much only comparing them with Apple.

Well, good enough at least. ;-) Honestly the AV was a good move. Give stuff like that away for free for long enough and the public perception of Microsoft and security may change.

Microsoft is actually decent at security now. The AV they released for free was actually on par with a few commercial products out there (all AV at the moment is pretty bad though, if you're curious). The really difficulty with Microsoft

I think because of your educated background you vastly overestimate the number of people that are taught algebra well in college. Even the people that did take real algebra sometimes don't cover all the content necessary for a strong base.

In what way do you feel that it is Wikipedia's fault that women do not edit it as often as men? I don't think Wikipedia needs to take steps to counteract anything in this regard because it's not doing anything to hamper women from particip

Why shouldn't they be rewarded for their hard work? A researcher doesn't have to disclose a vuln if he doesn't want to. He can sell it to the company, publish it for free, or just keep it for himself.

I find that thinking "could I turn this into a library?" whenever I code improves the quality of my code dramatically (whether it gets turned into a library eventually or not). Starting with the goals of quality and reuse is always a good
