I second the other posts. I have a lot more self control at coffee shops. I could come with all manner of reasons why, but honestly, I just don't know why. But I do know the result.

Has solar reached a point where further price declines are not highly likely? If not, then most people I've talked to would hold off on going this route. If prices will decline significantly in a year, then it would make sense to wait and

I think the negatives Graham cites outweigh the positives. Ultimately, "nerdy visionaries" win out over "rapacious dealmakers." The culture is just too different and I just don't mean the business culture. It's reflected in all walks of l

Blaming your customers for failure is never a good idea. I looked into doing a K12 school related startup and quickly concluded that it was a no go. The only money is in school budgets and the sales cycle is just too long and onerous. The p

This is great advice for a certain subset of companies, mostly consumer-based (either directly or indirectly) web startups. If you were starting a more technology intensive company, you could very well need to raise a ton of money to start

Oddly enough I am considering using Facebook because of this feature and I never use FB now. What I like about it is that it makes sharing more convenient, almost mindless (if it actually works the way its been hyped).

Another thing for entrepreneurs to keep in mind is that VC's deal with bigger chunks of money these days. Angels have take on a lot of the early stage risk, so if the process outlined in this article seems overly cautious or insular it's b

As a consumer I know I am supposed to want lower prices, but I also wanter better selection. I'm probably never going to have both. If I had to pick I'd pick higher prices and better selection. So my hope is that Netflix is sincere when t

I am relatively new to HN so I've just come to accept it, I would prefer that products were finished, but it's not too big of a deal. Plus, it might give the creators feedback suggesting they shouldn't pursue a project or maybe even that t
