Right. The big misconception is that really good programmers just write code at 10x the speed of bad ones. Nope, the complete opposite in fact.

The most important result of quality in software is that it's faster to produce and cheaper. How are people defining quality? We're not building tables with the finest wood. Low quality ends up taking longer to build over the lo

My hunch is that the difficulty has moved, not reduced in practice. We make one layer easier and then another mountain lies at the layer above, just as hard.

I've watched dozens of people try to learn to code and fail, some definitely not for a lack of trying. Of those that did learn, only a fraction had the IQ or passion to be genuinely good at it. The difficulty of it has absolutely bee

> lower taxation rates eh.. many western countries have comparable taxation rates. That's not true. Regardless it would be nice to have the choice to work 75% the hours for 75% pay. Not many jobs offer that, though. Everything in th

It's easy if you're employed by a reasonable company. Healthcare being so tied to your employer is so anti-labor it's unbelievable.

There's a good site for this: https://www.doesitplay.org/ Xbox is the worst about having a dependency on the internet to play your physical media.

Oh with that I wasn't arguing the blog wasn't AI. I'm sure it is. My point there is that stating that any Pangram settles anything is a huge mark against the author's credibility

I'm now suspicious this author (had AI) built the blog they're referencing just so they could make claims against OpenAI.

I think the big change was agents. The LLM improvements after that point have been relatively minor in impact.

Brain-computer interface, maybe. Hook a million play-testers up to the output and have it iterate. ..feels like there was a black mirror episode about that though

It's the flashy game/movie trailer equivalent for LLMs. Completely unrelated to the real experience, but good for marketing.

How does any of this article have anything to do with America specifically? Getting off the ground with a small business in America stinks in a lot of ways. Taxes are high and health insurance is really expensive when you have to cover it
