Fully touch capable keyboards would be awesome actually. Imagine remapping keys according to apps (games, editing, coding). I am not sure why you are using the macbook pro as a reference, as the only issues i had with it are related to the

What I find worse about Python than other languages is the lack of tooling and a relatively small collection of libs - many of which are half way done. In a last assignment, we decided Python is at most a hobby language. Python is great for

One product i’ve been waiting for is the upcoming mac pro. But given it has an intel cpu, overpriced and less lower powerful than the amd, i am going to delay that purchase for the foreseeable future.

Well yes, but until that happens we need to keep FOSS afloat somehow.

Bug bounties are an option, but there are plenty other options. I.e.: do not charge indie devs or small companies until they reach a certain amount of revenue, and make the code available to anyone paying or not - that's what FOSS is a

They could make more elsewhere because they don't charge money for the stuff they build. Free Open Source Software doesn't mean Free of Charge.

Just because your employer pays you to write open source, which is great, it doesn't mean all FOSS is sponsored by employers. "but use evidence of that to get well-paid contract work" - yup, that's the issue. Most FOSS i

Free of charge foss is bluntly silly unless it’s software that saves lives or greatly progresses science. To think there are so many great devs out there, spending their own time and dime to build free of charge software which is then comme

Linux journal, firefox and others are all victims of the free of charge obsession of the foss movement, and they all struggle financially. Hoards of developers want to escape their jobs and join wilderness of independent software developmen

Crazy things i am reading about the game industry. The thing is, game companies small or large survive as long as they produce games, so i am not surprised there are so many issues around work pressure. I think this proves that game develop

Funny you mention that. Most contractors I worked with and have worked at the likes of BA and banks complained about permanent employees resistant to change, and being out of date in terms of practices used, bureaucracy and "not my pro

Seems like software failures are a common occurrence in british banks and airports. Perhaps a culture of corner cutting, and calling it agile, might be the cause?

Early adopter of PC and mobile VR. The issues IMO are that other than charging an upfront price I don't see an easy way to monetise mobile VR (i.e.: ads don't seem to be an option, and most people won't pay a dime), while the

The design of this website brings so many memories. Where did the old internet go?!

Yeah the politics of mass killings and racial supremacy should not be welcome anywhere, neither should platforms that somehow thrive on such content.

Innovation doesn't equal inventing new stuff. I think it is quite innovative how they use an old mechanism for a new use case.

Other than the joy, Gbps is useful for households with more than one person streaming netflix or other services at the same time, or slower game update downloads. For devs, this is useful when pulling docker images or os images.

Trust me, once you get a 1Gbps network connection, you will love it. It's not that Netflix would be faster, but watching wget or curl reach massive speeds is just awesome :-)

Even so, rich people don't seem to be "driving" them. They can afford overpriced Rolls Royces or Bentleys but don't see them buying flying cars. Wondering why, given that the technology has been around for a while.

Also off topic. Google seems to favour "essays" over news, and most times you need to read the history of man kind before you get to relevant content in a news piece. Also it has no means to detect clickbait which is seriously pro

It is high noon that a mobile phone on which we can install any linux flavour, with a nice debian netinstall like interface, is developed. An os where we can run apt-get and dpkg list on the cli to see what is installed and what it does. So

We need more of this, and more spending and results in space research. Not only because we are destroying our own planet, but also because we as a species have been stagnating for quite some time.
