This is where MS can get the upper hand. Yes and no. I have to admit I hoped for the ability to install any app you like (like in former versions of WinMo). Sadly that is no longer the case. Silverlight/XNA development is fully OK for me,

The UI doesn't follow a conventional way how people use UI in any form of mobile devices. With this logic taken to the extreme, we'd all still be using phones with a typical Nokia-interface. I'm very glad we don't. What Windows Mobile 7

I was at one of the early developer sessions for Windows Phone 7, and even as a professional .NET developer I wasn't convinced I wanted to develop for this phone. I'm replacing my iPhone (3G) now and it's not for a Win7 phone, it's for an

I haven't really used any of the Java IDEs out there, but I thought I'd mention that you probably mean VS2008 ;) As for Visual Studio, its extensibility model might not be "awesome", but that is definitely changed for the better in VS2010,

Works neatly in Firefox and even better in Chrome, but fails horribly on my iPhone. Might just be due to the small screensize but I haven't tested that properly yet. Impressive none the less.

Except you have to call first to verify that whoever you are calling is on wifi. In Europe where wifi is something you have to search for and 3G is something which is everywhere, this renders the feature absolutely useless.

I would say some of these games have a very high turnover rate and relies on constant recruiting of new players. With just regular players quitting and less options available for hooking new ones, the net total is that they are losing out.

Good for you. You are obviously a power-user and any restriction placed on MSIE will not really affect you as I assume you are using some other browser anyway. The fact remains that XP is almost a decade old, and just because your OEM paid

By the very same logic there is no reason (apart from investing time & money) that Firefox shouldn't be able to run on 16-bit systems. But you don't see anyone complaining about that. You have to draw the line somewhere. XP is old. Ther

While lack of canvas support is definitely a noteworthy omission, I say people running an OS almost a decade old can't really complain when the newest software doesn't work. MSIE 9 uses hardware acceleration for faster rendering which invol

The problem is that it isn't a choice of MSIE6/7/8 or MSIE9, it is MSIE6/7/8 AND 9. While it hasn't always been that way, at least lately (since MSIE7 and 8) Microsoft has been working hard to get rid of the older versions as well and the

I just hope these make believe test pages don't fool the end users :( While these tests are certainly biased, they do show that MSIE is at least progressing now (as opposed to standing completely still for years and years) with regards to

Is the DB engine really inherently faster than the scripting language? As for anything, the answer is "it depends". It depends on what you want to do. In this case that is grab all rows in a specific dataset. If you in any case want to gr

Many people hate Microsoft because it’s a soulless company. Apple has a ton of fans because it stands for insanely good design and anti-authoritarianism. Steve Jobs is cool, Bill Gates isn’t. While the first statement may be true, I have
