If I'm reading this correctly this only applies to the .NET 4 runtime and not the old .NET 2.0 runtime (also powering .NET 3.0 and 3.5 solutions). In that case I guess if you are running tail-recursion heavy algorithms on x64, just recompil

While I do agree that Memory usage should be kept somewhat in check within reasonable boundaries, what on earth is the problem with a browser using available memory to accomplish speed and good response time? I use Firefox myself and not Op

I'm pretty sure if someone would try to explain Monads without actually using Haskell syntax it might actually be possible to understand. This explained nothing. Haskell advocates mention pure code and monads as pros of Haskell and typical

I see other people here have raised the issue of what source this is coming from. Let me raise another one. Ultimately though, what matters the most to me is control. I have a simple rule of thumb, which is that I don’t put data somewhere

I tested this in FF 3.6 and MSIE 8 and while it kinda "works" in MSIE 8, it does not work as in Firefox. The picture continues to scale up beyond 100% and doesn't stop there, which I thought was kind of the point behind all this.

I'm on a Windows 7 laptop with 4GBs of RAM, but due to chipset limitations in the laptop itself I am unable to use more than 3.3GBs despite running 64-bit Windows. Pretty annoying, but not unbearable. I'm guessing it is a decent mixture of

Why is this a bad thing? Look at the following screengrab: http://invalid.ed.ntnu.no/~jostein/qupload/files/taskman.png My laptop is running Firefox, PuTTY, Visual Studio, parts of the Office 2010 beta and I still haven't maxed out, but I

I've been waiting for these, but I was utterly disappointed that the only provider right now is LinkedIn (apart from Sharepoint, shipped with Office 2010) only supports 32-bit Office installations. If they want this to fly, they need to get

I've never heard about it before now, and it's already out of the AppStore. Now I'm very much interested, but can't check it out at all. As much as I like my iPhone it sucks that you can't install random applications from any website like y

People switch phones much more often though, maybe even once a year. Consoles is something you buy for a five year period of time.

Maybe developers aren't just obsessed with the iPhone: maybe they just don't want to develop for something that makes thier work look like shit. Oh you mean how people decided to develop for MSIE6 only because Netscape was kinda weak in c

But the comment on a status sticks to the status, not as a random flat message somewhere in a twitter-stream. So as opposed to on twitter you do get some context and you know what they replied to. I say that is "threaded" enough to make i

In most browsers you wouldn't know if it was Flash that crashed or the browser itself. In Chrome it is more explicit. I've never had my browser crash on me either. Firefox-user on Windows here. To me Chrome seems to "fix" a problem I've n

I have to disagree on this one. Everyone I know with a Xbox 360 has them in their livingroom, hooked up to a big-ass HDTV. Ofcourse you can attribute that to my age, and the fact that I don't know too many teenagers, but for the teens in my

According to the comments it seems it is slower, buggier and in some case broken for some users. Guess I see no reason to switch from FF 3.6 right now.

In a phone conversation you are having an actual conversation. You can hear a human, the tone of the voice, hear if the other person responds immideately or hesitates. You get lots of contextual information you can't get from text alone. An

For me it's the exact opposite. If I use twitter I can assume by default it will be checked less frequently than email, so this would be the slowest way to get my message across, if gets across at all.
