Regardless of the shameless PR, if it gets more people to think rationally about their religious position I am all for it. I just hope it doesn't backfire somehow.

Can you expand on what in particular is wrong with this research? I want to hear a critique of the argument not the source.

I wouldn't like to bet my business on getting bought out by people who think I am stealing from them.

You can run them through all manner of tests. Sense tests, logic tests, math, philosophy, reading, every experience can be compared and contrasted. Now, assuming a large number of tests have been performed and there is a consensus they have

This sounds like mysticism wrapped up in psychology. If there is no measurable difference between two "beings", one a copy of the other but implemented in silicon, what would your conclusion be? Surely if consciousness is anything magical t

If there is no practical difference between artificial and real consciousness, the simplest answer is to conclude that consciousness derives from a specific neuron structure.

Researchers are determining whether consciousness is a by-product of brain activity. Projects like blue brain aim to make this question something we can answer. Can you expand on what assumptions we make that are in no way provable?

Anyone know of a no-nonsense, minimal mumbo-jumbo way of starting?

"It's more likely that the world we'll be able to simulate in our own solar system will be much more interesting than any world we'd be able to visit outside of it." Good point, I had never thought of it like that.

We've had lots ranging from small 5g to larger ~100g. Larger was R&D, smaller was marketing/design work.

How long would it take you to refactor say an entire package hierarchy in an open source project like jfreechart? Id love to see a video of how this happens as evidence.

Sorry but there is something that wrong here. If your product really helps someone, and is worth more than the $ you are asking to them in terms of time, pain or effort, why wouldn't they pay again?

That's why you test to see if your target customers have the problem and are willing to pay for it. Do this before building your product if possible (and it usually always is).

That's why I believe there is such a low success rate of websites. The itch you are scratching is unlikely to be one that others will a) want solved and b) want to pay to be solved. The best serial entrepreneurs (multiple 7+ exits) I know a

It's obvious why: start ups are a marathon. I wonder how many iterations of user feedback it takes for successful companies to get their product right. I would wager at least 5.

The only ones that will work with non-technical users are things that are simple, and I have tried them all. 1. Adobe connectnow/connectpro. This is brilliant, and allows bi-directional screen sharing which clients love. It's really powerfu

A possible reason for longevity being heritable is the society they are living in prospers due to their experience and extra labor. Remember it wasn't long ago that grandparents looked after children in villages in some societies.
