   0. Hack together a prototype. 1. Go get some users for which your device stops pain. Get them to sign NDA's if necessary, and pay them a small stipend for their time. 2. See if your design really works. You can tell this if they do not want

It's funny. Most of the people I know didn't take advice a) loosen up, they took b) move, and went to europe following a smart female they met during postgrad.

After seeing my parents slave for other people, all their ideas wasted or stolen, why would I think it is the easy route not working on my own thing?

Regardless of whether the data is "perfect", I haven't seen anything more than anecdote supporting the SV hypothesis. Great article!

You haven't spent much time watching a cross-section of society use computers have you? :) I remember the first time I had to tell someone about how to use a scrollbar. A tab is almost nuclear physics from there.

Can anyone think of a wonderful business (think truly great) that couldn't get funding until they were in the US? From what I have seen there is tons of money if your model is great. I think the counter is true: it's much easier to raise mo

It is very hard. A few warning signs I have noticed over the years: - Superficial knowledge, but claim they know the field. When you dig deeper you find knowledge lacking. Wikipedia can help uncover this sometimes, amazingly. - Do not read
