I always get the feeling that grammarly adds to much commas. And so many of the sentence rewriting suggestions just provide glibberish.

They don‘t have a sales team, so no cost. So it‘s barely sone SaaS they use by themselves (e.g. slack etc.) and server costs. As they are running very lean I expect at least 80% margin.

Custom functions and data types are great but what most people miss is custom aggregates! Some weeks ago I built tsvector_agg() in ~10 minutes to aggregate the fulltext search vectors of multiple rows into one. That‘s really magical and sho

I‘ve seen an clever approach to do location-specific data at rest. Partitioning and postgres_fdw was combined to store specific data on specific clusters in some regions. And on top of it partioning was used to again get the global view. Re

Hashids sounds like hashing but it‘s just encoding and decoding the values. I shared that approach in the article. They have the drawback that you always need to decode manually the url when you e.g. want to lookup a record from an URL.

You can write a custom data type in pure SQL for PostgreSQL which is just transforming a visible string to the more efficient uuid type. That‘s basically how the uuid type can be implemented: For storage it‘s binary(16) but all operations t

That‘s in my experience also the best approach. I wrote an article a few days ago about the exact thing: An integer auto incrementing PK with an UUID you use externally: https://sqlfordevs.io/uuid-prevent-enumeration-attack

The problem is more that you have to use Apple's 2FA which is linked to their devices. You lose them all at once because you are robbed? Good luck! There isn't any way to get a TOTP key you can store in a password manager.

That problem is solved by how 1Password works: * Your password vult is encrypted locally and stored on their servers (just an encrypted file!) * To unlock the vault, you need the password and the generated master code. * The master code is
