This is reductionist, the specifics of what goes on at the surface do matter, that is the whole point of the climate change debate. How much chemical energy can we dig up and how do the byproducts affect the radiative ability of the planet

What I always find so hard to believe is that, knowing how well we can predict weather and other complicated systems, climate change science somehow is able to make 1/10 centigrade precision predictions on time horizons of decades and

I feel like this could also be fixed by a simple algorithm to keep track of the start index in FixBufAlloc.

They do nearly the same thing, as I understand it. Samsung doesn’t specifically improve the moon, it’s just one of the things their filter has learned to improve. Apple is doing pretty much the same thing except getting away with it; it’s n

Apple does this kind of retouching too as I understand it, but only for bokeh effects and it’s not something they hide.

Gaussian blur is indeed super common in nature, any sum of noise will be Gaussian in the limit.

I think tuning the sampler temperature and using top-k over top-p sounds ad hoc and shouldn’t be necessary for a solid model. Do you have any reason for suggesting those changes in particular? Especially since top-p, or nucleus sampling, is

You get this issue without position embeddings. Attention computes an inner product between each pair of input tokens, so N^2 x E. Squares grow really fast.

There are little hints strewn out through the code that suggests it is indeed “trimmed” from a larger codebase.

I’m pretty sure the code you linked is just simplified for publication. I think it’s interesting to read, I just don’t think it’s what they actually used to train and develop the algorithm.

Why? Because it is suggesting that the only way to have lasting prosperity is to enslave women. How is that not immediately obvious to you? I live in one of the countries that, supposedly, support parents so much, and these society offer no

Then why doesn’t the birth numbers in for example Sweden sit lower than Japan? To be clear, I take offense to explaining stagnation with women’s rights. You have made an absurd claim and backed it up with a weak argument.

I subscribe to the idea that your code should state your intent as closely as possible. I question the idea that you would ever want the very linchpin of your function hidden away as a second subclause of an if statement. A function that ca

Skip breakfast, sleep less. You don’t have 8am classes every day. You can easily get to bed by 22:30 and sleep more than enough. If your circadian rhythm is set to sleep at 2am, an 8am class is going to be hell no matter what you do.

It is both, and the fact is that a day only has so many hours. Scheduling is already difficult, halving the number of hours would be impossible. “But just schedule evenings” maybe you object. Ok, so what about the other daytime obligations

Nest the if statements then, perhaps in an else branch. Relying on short circuiting to avoid side effects or improving performance meaningfully is pretty shaky.
