You say the threshold is not entirely subjective, but then you describe a subjective (you just know it) and ambiguous (transitioning back toward engineering) threshold. Sure seems to me like it's subjective. Also, I've nedlver eve

You're repeating the broader definition, great. But your post leaves me with the same question about degrees. You say there's two cases: no review and full review, "deep sense of the code", and that one is vibe coding an

I think it's perfectly serviceable. Prompting software into existance is a vibes-based activity, and it's completely at odds with engineering. Which is why it's good that there's a term that conveys this.

People use two definitions. There's this definition of LLM generation + "no thorough review or testing" And there's the more normative one: just LLM generation.[1][2][3] "Not even looking at it" is very difficu

What. Are you saying maintainable code is specifically related to startups? I can accept companies as an answer (although there are other places to cut your teeth), but startups is a weird carveout.

You say no, but then you agree that they think it's demeaning. Are you saying no just to say no, because you dislike how I'm framing this? I don't think you've shown that the narrow definition is the original one. That&#

You're saying what I'm saying. They feel self conscious about the term "vibe coding". And to be clear, nobody accused the people who lashed out here. They reacted to general statements that people are vibe coding. I also

Because I believe the broad definition is more widely used, I also don't think the narrow term is useful or meaningful, and I think it's being used purely by vibe coding practitioners who feel that the term has negative connotatio

The actual problem with technocracy is that you create a formalized hierarchy of leaders and rabble based on some credential granting authority that the technocrats control. That's a recipe for disaster. The technocrats define who can

The size of the project is not what matters. It's the systems it includes and how complex they are. Actually, that raises a question: are the more complex systems in this collection of projects vibecoded or programmed by a human? Which

If you use an LLM to generate source code you are vibecoding. You specify the problem in natural language (the vibes) and the LLM spits out source (the code). Whether you review it or not, that is vibecoding. You did not go through the rigo

I'm not pitching any metric. I'm describing the metric being discussed. The average is certainly not worthless. The average gives the expectation, which is more meaningful than the median, which is just the arbitrary line at the 5
